Issuing a refund

Hi, I sold an item which the seller has paid for; when I went to pack it up I found a hole in it. Buyer has agreed to a refund. I have been into the resolution centre to cancel the transation. Do I wait for a response to that (even though I have already messaged her about it) or should I just go ahead and just issue a refund in paypal? Thanks.

Personally I would wait until she accepts the cancellation request before refunding.

no you refund first and then the buyer accepts the cancellation after they have their money back.

Two different opinions! I thought if I refunded she could claim that I haven't sent it. But I guess she might want her money back before she accepts the cancellation. So I can see both sides. It's only a few quid, I think I will refund. Thanks.

in the cancellation request the buyer is advised to accept it after they have had the refund - so you have to refund first.
