AIBU to refuse to pay £21 P&P for a bundle of clothes ???

Won my Neice some clothes off one seller must of been about 25 items at most all age 3-4 so not heavy stuff and all summer items .
I contacted the seller to combine P&P which she did (reduced it from £26) , she stated on the listing that she would be using collect+

I contacted her again saying I know for a fact it would cost no more than £10 at the utter most to post them and now she has told me she will be cancelling my bids Confused

I have used Collect+ several times and have sent pushchairs for £10 ffs

What is it with people trying to scam you with postage prices ?

Were I being unreasonable to question the postage price and refuse to pay it ?

The thing is that, from how your OP reads, you made bids on several items from the same seller, all with individual P&P charges.

So, you bid on, say, 13 items, won them all and all had individual p&p charges of £2 each. When you placed the bids you were aware of the p&p charges and agreed to pay them.

I agree with you that the combined charges are taking the pee but because you entered into an agreement to pay 13 x £2 charges, for example, I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on with Ebay. y

The only thing you can do, if the seller won't budge, is either to ask the seller to cancel all the transactions and not purchase them or to refuse to complete the transaction and risk getting a non paying buyer strike.

If the seller is sending all of the clothes in one bundle rather than having to individually wrap things, I think that is a huge overcharge. However, some might say you should have contacted her before bidding to check that she didn't intend charging you individual postage costs for every item. Maybe she thought her luck was in and would make a lot more through p&p than she would selling lots of items all to one buyer.

if that was me i'd only charge the amount they will actually be.. i'd bundle them up and get the exact price from the post office.. maybe stick £1 extra tops…
she is scamming

Thiscantbetrue · 06/08/2014 23:20

She specified that she would be happy to combine P&P

She did combine postage. She didn't say she would reduce it by over 60%. That said, ebay is strict on overcharging.

Reasonable for you to question it but maybe your 'I know for a fact' angle came over a bit antagonistic? Maybe she cancelled your bids because she thought you'd raise a dispute on it and she'd lose. In which case my guess is she'd probably be right.

Thiscantbetrue · 06/08/2014 23:53

It never even crossed my mind to open a dispute .
.Also i would never be so cheeky as to charge somebody such an extortionate price for postage

Shame the seller could lose out on a good sale through her silly postage. Seller could send in a couple of smaller bundles even. Would not cost £21. It is the seller that is being unreasonable but there really isn't that much to be done if she won't budge. Try asking ebay CS? but choice is probably either cancel or pay P&P then mark seller's stars down on postage.

Thiscantbetrue · 07/08/2014 00:21

I've agreed to cancel , if it was just a few extra quid then I'd of paid but not that much

I wouldn't pay either. The postage with MyHermes would only be about a fiver. She's taking the piss. Report to eBay.

butterflybuttons · 07/08/2014 08:04

how heavy was the bundle? £21 is absolute daylight robbery - would prob cost no more than a fiver via courier.

Thiscantbetrue · 07/08/2014 08:17

How do report ?
