Cancelling auction

I've got an auction ending today (within 12 hours). The item has a couple of bids on it (low) but I've had a change of heart about selling it as I can see another use for it!

I don't normally renege on things but I really want to pull out of this one. What's the best way of getting out of the sale? It's a big item and hard to break so I'm not sure I can use that excuse!

get a friend to bid a ridiculous amount ensuring they win it - then send them a cancellation request to get your fees back.

Say your dp accidentally took it to the dump/recycling?

the trouble with letting it run is you need to rely on the goodwill of the winning buyer to not neg and to accept your cancellation request - which can leave you with trashed feedback, stars and a hefty fvf fee to pay too. Much easier to ensure the winning bidder is guaranteed to accept the cancellation.

A disagreeable buyer won't believe it has gone to the dump, they will presume you just want more money and will prob neg you.

caspar send me a pm with the auction number. I will bid a really ridiculous bid and then you can send me a cancellation. Grin

Thanks everyone

I ended it early and said that DH had accidentally taken it to the charity shop. Very naughty of me I know but it was due to go for peanuts and I've decided that I will spray paint it and re-use it in another room (get me!).

I'm normally a very honest eBayer.... Wink
