buyer claiming item is scratched

Sold a "good" watch on ebay, I posted clear photos and specified that there was some light scratching on the bezel from normal wear but otherwise in excellent condition. The buyer received the watch a week ago and has just contacted me to say the glass is scratched as well and wants me to contribute to the cost of replacing the glass.

I don't recall scratches on the glass. The photos are clear and do not show any scratching. The photos were taken the day I listed it and then I kept it carefully packed in its box after that. I believe I sold that watch in good faith, in the condition it was listed.

Do I have to do anything?

they stopped sellers being able to neg so buyers could leave honest feedback without the worry of a retaliatory neg from the seller. Before, if you left honest bad feedback for a seller they would just neg you back out of spite, so buyers wouldn't neg at all and sellers would get away with it and their feedback didn't always reflect the service they provided.

So she can leave me negative feedback and I can't say anything about her? That sucks. She says she is going to send it on monday and will provide a tracking number. I so don't need this stress. :(

yes she can - but you can leave a response to it.

You did tell her you need to check your security marks first didn't you?

KidsDontThinkImCool · 25/05/2014 12:14

what do you mean about security marks? Like an invisible tag of some sort that I can use to verify she is returning my watch and not a fake? Would she know if I was bluffing?

yes that is what I mean - how would she know you are bluffing?

KidsDontThinkImCool · 25/05/2014 19:08

I don't know - could someone with the right experience know if had a security mark?

well they can never be sure can they - that is the whole point.

KidsDontThinkImCool · 25/05/2014 19:55

ok, thx

It's good advice. If you've got a scammer on your hands, bear in mind that typically they go for easy targets. If they think they're dealing with a seller who's a bit more complicated, they might back off and move onto their next target.

I'd be interested to know the outcome of this.

Be careful if she sends it back!,
I had a similar kind of case with a fab condition Juicy Couture tracksuit. Buyer wanted partial refund, I said no, so she sent it back.
She sent it back after 10 days but it was another tracksuit ( fake one, and terrible condition) eBay sided with buyer & gave her full refund. Also PayPal has a 45 day refund policy, so she can get her money back any time within that time frame.
eBay sucks for sellers
