What happens to postage cost in a not as described case.

I sold some shoes, really good condition, not been worn out side the house. I described then as good.

The buyer left positive feedback but has just contacted me to say they are not as described and are not the right size.

I told the buyer to return them and I will refund.

What happens to the postage cost?

  1. the postage already paid?

  2. the cost to return them?

Well what does buyer mean as not the right size? not the size you described or they don't fit but are the size you said?

The usual way is buyer returns and you refund what they paid inc initial P&P. You lose that postage but buyer pays return postage.

If you described the shoes accurately and feel you could ask, then you could suggest refund on item only (though this is not what ebay endorse). This way no loss to you but buyer loses 2 sets P&P.

If you made a mistake with the listing it is the done thing to refund both sets of postage so buyer is not out of pocket for your error.

Afterwards you need to request a cancellation for the transaction to get your fees back.

hope that helps

Thankyou, I've asked then to clarify the size and to email me a picture if it's my mistake. As so far they have just said don't fit.
