Over the past few months:

  • the controller that came with our central heating system, which for some reason the builders had not installed and used a different one instead. The box was knackered, but the controller looked okay, so I put it on ebay rather than chuck it in a skip. £44. Shock

*bunch of random girlguide badges/patches thrown out by daughter who went off the whole guiding thing quite quickly. £23 Shock

*Obsolete battery/tape style dictaphone, used but still in box. £46. Shock

*Random bits of Star Wars Lego (minifigs generally £5- £10 each). Shock

Anyone else want to share some inspiration?

I have previously mentioned it on here when I sold it a couple of months ago - my daughter's Harry Potter Dobby the Elf which sold for £48.

DS's old doctor who fob watch (plastic toy) £36

Foxsticks · 01/05/2014 15:28

A tandem space hopper for £38.62 - I was amazed!

Nanny0gg · 01/05/2014 18:02

Not mine, but I was watching because I have one, an M&S waterfall cardigan (worn), £26.

They're only £30 brand new, and there was loads of bidding!

PastaandCheese · 01/05/2014 18:53

I sold a Cath Kidston button tin for £56. I thought it was a joke until the money and nice feedback arrived.

colleysmill · 01/05/2014 18:58

Dh sold individually about 20 editions of the Iron Maiden fanzine and made over 200 quid.

I was amazed.

years ago I sold an Aerosmith album i had bought in a job lot of records at a bootsale. I paid about 20p for it, i sold it for £325. Unbeknown to me it had a miss print on the sleeve and was much sought after in Japan!

hardbeingme · 01/05/2014 19:07

tinkerbell cot bed duvet cover - it went for over 20 pounds i think i paid 12 new.

I've since sold a George pig one and that went for more than the purchase price too.

Really surprised as I'm sure they could've bought brand new bedding for less, but I won't complain.

Flat pack spiral staircase.
We took it out and put it on eBay so we wouldn't have to dump it.
£800!!

PurpleFrog · 02/05/2014 15:55

2 plastic snoopy flasks from the early 1980s.

My mum had given me a bag of stuff to get rid of - mainly things my sister and I had used when we were younger. I checked on eBay and decided to sell them instead of charity shopping them. I sold them as a pair as there was only one stopper between them!

£28.00 !!

Scarletohello · 02/05/2014 15:59

I bought a black leather massage chair for £20, sold it when I moved homes. Sold for £80, in the last few days. Profit of £80, yeah!

Scarletohello · 02/05/2014 16:01

Sorry, sold for £100, not £80 ( tired )..!

TypicaLibra · 02/05/2014 20:41

I bought a small dehumidifier for £5 a few years ago on Ebay (during a heatwave). Sold it for £50 18 months later following a particularly wet winter.

TypicaLibra · 02/05/2014 20:46

Oh and another one: a tank of some sort, maybe for a cistern - something plumberish anyway - it was left in the shed of a house I was renting, and I wanted to clear it out to make space for firewood ... nearly took to tip but then thought I'd try ebay first just in case - sold for £45!

(Had landlady's permission to get rid of shite in shed btw!)

DH had some strategy board games from the 70s and 80s, unbeknownst to us they were very collectable, we got about £200 in total.

Sold DDs hi-bed/desk/chair thingy for £50 more than we paid for it.

Sold a two-tier rabbit hutch and run for £90.

Bought a piece fabric off ebay for £1.99 which had a pattern of random hearts in squares, made what I needed then cut the left overs into squares and sold them for £6.

DS upgraded his blackberry on contract for £80 then I sold for him on ebay for £300.

GemmaTeller · 02/05/2014 20:58

** then I sold it for him on ebay for £300

Old enamel Butlins badge £48

Roll and a half of Winnie the Pooh wallpaper border £28

PlinkyPlonker · 02/05/2014 21:25

Second hand cloth nappies. Bought off eBay for £15 and sold for £40 plus postage to Hungary/Bulgaria - can't remember now. Apparently they can't get tots bots there very easily.

yesnoyesnoyesno · 02/05/2014 21:32

Ikea throw, about £25 new, sold it a few years later for £100. It was nice though.

Madratlady · 02/05/2014 21:42

Plinky nobody is bidding on my cloth nappies :(

I won a portable DVD player in a raffle, we already have them installed in the car so had no use for it.

I had a quick google and hoped to get £30 for it and it was selling for £45 on amazon.

It sold for £80. I have no idea why.

I also sold two matching dresses that I had made for my nieces for a party last summer, it only cost me around £10 to make them and they were quite simple designs but they both sold to the same person for £65, they wanted them for bridesmaid dresses and asked if I could make a third to match in another size and offered me £40 for the extra one.

Alidoll · 08/05/2014 14:47

Crap...just chucked out a whole lot of those Never worn as DD didn't like them!

Alidoll · 08/05/2014 14:48
