Reversing positive feedback on an item I bought?

Hi there. I bought a dress this week and left positive feedback for it when it arrived (i.e. - nice dress, arrived quickly ). I've now looked at the dress in more detail and noticed two small holes in one of the sleeves. I've emailed the seller to advise her and attached photos but I'm still awaiting her response.

Perhaps I was a bit too early in leaving this feedback but does anyone know if I can still raise a dispute with eBay if I hear nothing further from the seller even though positive feedback has already been left?

I don't think you can revise feedback but you might be able to still open a not as described case? try it and see what happens if seller doesn't get back to you. A good seller would apologise & offer a refund without the case but you may need to open one.

It's irrelevant that you've left positive feedback. Although it is possible you could persuade ebay to withdraw it, you would be very lucky to succeed in this.

Contact the buyer again and tell them that you would like to hear back from them for them to resolve the matter but if they and settle the matter soon, say by this coming Wednesday, you'll open a Not As Described case. In your shoes I would ask them to agree to refund you what you've paid and also to pay you your costs in returning the item.

If you do open the case, the likely result will be a refund of all you've paid although it's likely you'll have to pay return postage. (But it's possible ebay might decide that that will be refunded to you too.) You could also agree to receive a partial refund and to keep the defective item.

Any reasonable seller will jump at the chance to resolve this before you open a case. Cases are a pain in the arse for sellers and can have unpleasant consequences.

I think you have 30 days after actual (or latest estimated) delivery date to open a case. But even though it looks like there's plenty of time, don't hang around.

By the way, take care in sending the seller another message. It's very easy to open a case accidentally when you're actually trying just to send a message. You only want to open a case once you've decided to.

no you can't change it - but you can open a case still.

Thanks everyone. Still waiting to hear from her but will proceed to open a case in a couple of days if necessary.

Open a case, I did when I receives a dress and left positive feedback because on first glance it was fine but I later found a rip. The seller was not helpful and fought me all the way but I got my money back thanks to escalating the case. I left a note under the positive feedback though saying how I had found a rip and they were unhelpful. I know it's not much but it made me feel better. Good luck and open that case if they won't help.
