Just found a message in my inbox which didn't (surprise surprise) filter through to my email.

Ebay are changing the time allowed to open a dispute from 45 days to 30 days.

'We've made further changes regarding the eBay Money Back Guarantee as summarised below (please see the eBay Money Back Guarantee policy for the full details):

• The timeline for opening an eBay Money Back Guarantee case will change from 45 days from payment date to no later than 30 days after actual (or latest estimated) delivery date. This timeline change will give all buyers, domestic and international, the same amount of time after actually receiving or expecting to receive their item, to get protection for their purchase with the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

• The timeline for buyers and sellers to appeal an eBay Money Back Guarantee case from the day it is closed will change from 45 days, to 30 days.

Not sure if this will impact paypal disputes as well.

JFYI

I am glad they've reduced the time as I always used to worry that someone could buy something and then damage it and claim!

Me too Penguin, last year I sold a girls coat. Worn by my daughter the previous winter daily, was still in great condition (me too). 49 days after selling it the buyer sent a message asking for a refund as some of the reflective piping had come un stitched Shock
had it been a week before she could have got her money back after her daughter had been wearing it,
I asked for advice here and like many Mners said, she could have caught it at the park etc. I was lucky!

I think for sellers it is good, but as a buyer not so good - especially at Christmas time - you may not know if an item is working or as described until gifts are opened and then it will be too late to open a case.
