I bid and won on a Ergobaby carrier for £57. After winning, I contacted the seller just to confirm what she wrote in the description, that it's a genuine carrier. She replied straight away that it's definately genuine but did bot say where she got it from. It's arrived and I'm not happy. It's worn, so must be quite old, but some of the stitching is coming off and some of the stitching is slightly wonky. I'm not happy to put my baby in it for safety reasons.

What should I do? Can I ask for refund and send it back on basis it's not fit for purpose, or can I say I suspect it's not original?

Not had this before, so not sure which way to go!

Thanking in advance

yes - open a not as described dispute, send it back with tracking and once you give ebay the tracking info they will refund you in full. You need to pay cost of return. Signed for won't be sufficient - I use MyHermes, others use Collect+ - cheaper and you don't need to pay extra for signature, it automatically tracks as delivered with them.

Thanks Sandy. I'm feeling quite anxious about it! Should I contact the seller first or just go ahead and open a case?

You can contact ergo baby EU to ask if they can verify the carrier; there are a LOT of fakes out there, but some older models are ok.

I did think of that, but the stitching is loose in a few places and tbh, I just dont feel comfortable putting baby in it

Well if the loose stitching wasn't described then you can easily return as 'not as described' like the poster earlier mentioned. Hope it goes through simply for you Smile

there is no need to feel anxious - just get the case opened is my advice.

Can't help feeling anxious, and DH will be annoyed as well that I spent that much on something of such poor quality Blush

but you will get your money back so there is nothing to worry about is there? Certainly nothing for him to get annoyed about surely!

It also sounds quite cheap to be an original. Mine cost me £110 new plus the newborn insert of £20. There are a lot of fakes out there unfortunately. Angry If you do manage to get a refund pm me and you can buy mine if you want! I have the receipt and original box! Grin Grin

Grin spacegirl

if I can get my money back, yes I will pm you

Hi OP. I would contact the seller first. If these faults were not made clear in the description of the item they should issue you a refund. If they won't I would open a dispute but eBay will then have to investigate so may take a while to get your money back (but if the item is not as described you should be able to get it). If these faults were in the description then you are unlikely to get a refund. As a seller I would rather be given the chance to resolve the situation first before going to dispute.
Good luck

Thank you soooooooo much for all your help and advice Thanks Thanks Thanks

I contacted the seller explaining I wasn't happy and asked for a refund. She replied straight away saying she wasn't aware of any problems with it, but that it was ok and has already refunded my money!!!!

I'm so relieved!

Thank you all, I would have dithered about this for weeks otherwise Smile
