is also saying I can keep the old one for the 'cheap price' of £3.00!

Bought a 'hungry hound' money box for DS2 for Christmas - pleased to find it for £7.98 + £2.99 p+p as they were on sale for £15 elsewhere. Was rushing and didn't notice until I had bought it that it was coming from China. Crossed fingers and hoped. It arrived in good time, but when I unpacked it on Boxing Day I found it had no cover for the battery compartment - tried putting batteries in anyway but it doesn't work. I contacted the seller who first asked me to send a photo and has just now sent me a message saying he will replace it free of charge but would I like to keep the old one for £3.00! I've said no - but am I expected to post the old one back at my expense? If so that's obviously going to cost more than £3.00. WWYD?

I would open a not as described case and then leave appropriate feedback and stars. I would not pay any more money - why does he think that you would want a faulty item for £3?

bzoo · 28/12/2013 08:54

Aren't they just offering to refund the item price and NOT the P&P?

lirael · 28/12/2013 11:10

Bzoo, that is possible - the email isn't totally clear. Although he definitely says I can have a replacement.

i would just say you don't want to keep the old one and then see what they say about returning it or not. Usually when i've bought small value items that are faulty the seller says just to throw it away

Have just had an email saying exactly that. Hopefully replacement will be OK - will wait and see!
