I have been a member for years and never had a problem but this week received a down coat that was pretty expensive but had several very distinct stains on the front and sleeves. When I contacted the seller, she responded in a very aggressive way, but conceded that I could send back the coat as she didn't want any trouble and she would re imburse me, but I would have to open a dispute with e bay. Could anyone advise on what kind of dispute and how to go about it-sorry I am hopeless

not as described - list the faults then escalate in 8 days when it tell you to and you will need to return tracked, i would not rely on signed for, MyHermes or Collect + are better I think. No need to pay extra for signature though. Then you give ebay the tracking number and they will refund in full. I doubt the seller will give you the return costs on top, though you can ask, and they should really give those back too.

The seller is wrong, you do not have to open a dispute to return the item. I hope you leave appropriate feedback and low stars when this is finished.

open dispute here

Thank you! I am just a bit puzzled as to why she said she would send me a cheque if I sent the coat back, but then said only if I opened the dispute. If e bay re imburse does she re imburse them? Could she mean cancel the transaction so that it leaves no evidence. She was so aggressive I am reluctant to ask her again....

no she is wrong to send a cheque - and she can't cancel the transaction and leave no evidence. I guess she doesn't know how it is meant to work.

she has to refund via the way you paid, if this puts her paypal into debit she has to repay them. If she sent you a chq you could still pursue her via paypal and get double refund.
