Buyer being a pain regarding collection

Heavy and awkward item so listed as collection only. Only one bidder and it sold for 75 p! turns out he lives over 100 miles from me and wants to get courier to pick up. i have refused as I am NOT going to get a bus to nearest town to buy bubble wrap etc or order off ebay. i am NOT going to spend time trying to wrap the bugger or wait in for courier.

i am going to get about three pence out of this sale after ebay, paypal fees and the bloody phone call i made to him before coming to my senses.

He won't listen though and thinks it perfectly ok for me to do all this. Just received email from him saying courier arranged for tuesday so 'please wrap item up, lovey'.

Am more than pissed off but don't know what to do!!!!!

heelllpppp

You say no.

How hard can it be Confused

Just 'no'

picnicbasketcase · 29/11/2013 16:43

'I listed the item as collection only. I will not wrap it, arrange a courier collecting it or anything else. If this is not acceptable to you, I am happy to cancel the sale.'

Gatekeeper · 29/11/2013 16:44

I have said "no" umpteen times in texts, on the phone and ebay messages but he refuses to accept this!!!!!!

Have you refunded?

Do so. Then cancel and relist.

Ifcatshadthumbs · 29/11/2013 16:53

Just cancel the whole transaction if he's paid refund him. Honestly he can't make you continue with the sale.

Ifcatshadthumbs · 29/11/2013 16:54

You don't need his permission either

Gatekeeper · 29/11/2013 16:56

He hasn't paid yet, didn't realise i could cancel a sale once listing had ended so will look into that , thanks

Yes you can definitely cancel, I have done so when someone has bid on a pick item but can't collect

Gingefringe · 29/11/2013 17:05

All this hassle for 75p!!
Just cancel the whole thing.

I had someone do this to me once, the buyer refused to take no for an answer and booked a courier without my agreement, I made it clear that I would be at work so would no be home but he said "that's ok, I can see on google earth street view that you have a entry porch, just leave it in there."

I explained that I lock the porch door but he didn't seem to believe me and tried to convince me that it would be fine to leave it unlocked 'just this once'.

I refused, he ignored me and the courier came anyway, I had a card through my door when I got home with something along the lines of "told parcel would be left in open porch, but unable to access porch".

The buyer then reported me to eBay as a non performing seller, he didn't win.

SandyDilbert · 29/11/2013 17:24

no chance - cash on collection only, no exceptions whatsoever. If the courier turns up send them away.

SandyDilbert · 29/11/2013 17:26

and btw - never let buyer pay by paypal and arrange courier or collect themselves, I know this item is pennies, but you lose all seller protection, have no tracking and no contract with courier if it all goes wrong. Can lose your item and the money.

TeacupDrama · 30/11/2013 09:52

however in this case they would only get 75p back from OP as they arranged courier themselves they would not be able to get cost back and OP could get any negative feedback removed as a papertrial of saying no courier

SandyDilbert · 30/11/2013 10:22

I don't know if neg feedback would be removed - I wouldn't count on it anyway. What do you mean about cost back?

TeacupDrama · 30/11/2013 11:05

if they claim back paypal cost as you not in for courier it is only 75p however they will still be charged by courier and as it was collection only item paypal would not refund their courier costs so they would be far more out of pocket than you

SandyDilbert · 30/11/2013 11:25

yes fair enough - but if it was £100 item it would be much more of a loss, that is the point I was making.

TeacupDrama · 30/11/2013 11:55

yes i agree totally sandy but in this case losing the 75p would almost be worth it for his chagrin caused by own stupidity

of course if cost £100 you would refund paypal immediately and insist on real money on collection or you would arrange and pay for courier yourself so sent tracked and insured
