Overcharged

I'm fuming Angry. I bought several items from the same seller recently and agreed beforehand to combined postage. When I got the invoice I was a little surprised that the discount wasn't higher but I figured the items were heavier or bulkier to post than I had anticipated.

When they arrived I noticed I'd been overcharged by £7.10!

I mainly sell on eBay and make a point of refunding any postage difference before the buyer even receives the item so have not experienced this problem before.

Seller has been incredibly rude about the whole thing.

My question is

I am going to leave negative feedback and I've heard that if you do it a week apart it counts more against their score. Is this correct?

Also if I do do this (5 times) and he reports me to eBay for it will this cause problems?

I would start an eBay dispute. I did this in a similar situation and eBay refunded the lot. Took a few weeks as seller dug their heels in, but eBay worked in my favour.

SandyDilbert · 23/11/2013 21:28

yes, to be sure leave each feedback 8 days apart, then each one will count as an individual mark on their overall score

I have never heard of a buyer being refunded their overcharged postage from opening a dispute - is that a new thing?

RandomMess · 23/11/2013 21:30

Ebay have cracked down on overcharging for postage generally, also you now get charged fees on postage so there is no advantage to the seller to do this anymore anyway Confused

I did look at opening a dispute but it didn't seem to fit any of the categories - what should I put it as?

Thanks for your help, I am more angry at his replies than the overcharging to be honest

you can't open a dispute for overcharged postage.

Make sure you leave 1 star for p&p if you want it to count as a low rating - leaving the stars blank does not count as a low score, it doesn't count as anything.

FlouncingIsles · 23/11/2013 21:49

I can't remember exactly what I put it under - not as described maybe? Which wouldn't normally be the right category for postage issues but the postage was not as described!

I was also furious with my seller's responses. Normally I would let things like that slide but they were utterly vile about it.

What's their feedback score, HM?
Odds are that you will end up giving them a lifetime selling ban.

SandyDilbert · 23/11/2013 22:20

and did ebay refund all of the p&p or did the seller do it?

sleepdodger · 23/11/2013 22:33

I don't disagree with you but my p&p also reflect other charges ie packaging an getting to po
Just food for thought!

SandyDilbert · 23/11/2013 22:49

you are not allowed to charge for getting to the post office if you are a private seller. p&p is just for that, not any extras.

hoppingmad · 23/11/2013 22:56

Seller made it quite clear that he jacked up postage as items didn't sell for what he wanted, that's why I'm so cross.
On the other hand his feedback is excellent and I've no desire to get him a lifetime ban.

He even had a moan at me that I paid much less than he bought them for!

Just had another look at the profile and he appears to mainly buy rather than sell - perhaps explains the 100% rating

I sympathise - I recently had a similar problem where I paid for a parcel to be sent by first class recorded and the seller sent it by cheap courier and pocketed the difference (over £5).

The seller refused point blank to refund me the excess. I was shocked because I always refund excess postage if I have miscalculated. This was just profiteering.

I contacted eBay and they said that there was nothing they could do, my only option was to leave negative feedback. That's what I did and she left a spiteful comment on my feedback in return (but not a "negative" as sellers can't do that, thank goodness). I really think eBay ought to do something about this - it's very frustrating Hmm

SandyDilbert · 23/11/2013 23:42

Tree - the neg statement on your feedback left by the seller will be removed by ebay if you ask them to.

TreeFuMom · 24/11/2013 21:58

Thanks Sandy - I'll ask about that
