Can I appeal to ebay for non-payment case against me or must I deal with seller?

I bought an item from an ebay seller/shop - it was a BIN as there are lots of the thing.

However when I added to basket (on ipad touch screen) something must have keyed in wrong and I inadvertently added two of the item to my basket.

No worries thought I, I can just remove one and update the basket like in ANY NORMAL ONLINE CHECKOUT.

Except I couldn't.

It just said 'you are committed to buying this item,'.

The best I could do was leave one item out of the basket 'for later' and paid for the only one I wanted.

Now I have an unpaid case opened against me. I contacted the seller but no response.

Can I appeal to ebay or does it have to be done through the seller?

Grrr. This has really irritated me. Surely this must happen lots with small screens and fat fingers.

I usually do this stuff on a pc with proper keyboard.

you can ask the seller to cancel the sale and they can send a request which you need to accept, but otherwise you need to pay to cancel the non payer case.

You don't need to pay.

You will have a 'strike' against you for non payment but you have to acquire multiple strikes for it to have any effect.

The seller is at fault for not responding.

I would email the seller one more time to explain and if you are not ignored again, I would ignore without any further ado.

Thank you all.

I did just 'chat' to someone at ebay (who said it was a pleasure to deal with such an exemplary ebay user - bet they say that to everyone!)
and they basically said I had to resolve it with the seller - but they aren't replying so I shall try one more time tomorrow, which is the deadline before a 'strike' is added.

It went straight from add to basket to commit to purchase - was v frustrating. I usually bid for things though - this is the first time I've bought from a store front. Maybe that's usual?

Useful to know that one strike won't make too much difference.

is they don't respond and you get a NPB strike you could always leave negative/ neutral feedback on the item you have bought

SandyDilbert · 20/11/2013 21:37

you can't leave any feedback, neg or otherwise, after a non payer case has closed and you have received a strike.

Give them a negative now? You can remove feedback if they pull their finger out and help you?
