There is a message on ebay saying these will now be removed. Sorry to be a bit dim but what does it mean? Is it when people have photos in the main description bit of their listing rather than in the usual place with the 12 photos? Thanks. Also no photos allowed with text on or borders etc which I don't mind as I don't do that anyway.

To my knowledge it's when an image is a link to another place. Your right in saying about the pictures being placed in the description though but I think it might be a bit deeper than that by using the picture to redirect someone to the sellers own web page. Combine both your idea and my idea and I think that could be the answer. Don't quote me on that though lol because I could be far from right. X

yes, it means just that. in the description you can use html and thus nest images into it. These can be from anywhere, flickr for example. by changing this term ebay are explicitly stating that all images displayed on the site have to be uploaded to their server. Could be for a number of reason, most likely is that they have to pay to fetch the images that are displayed on their site so it is cheaper if they hosted. also likely is that they want to own all the images that are displayed on ebay.

oh I see. Actually I have put links in my descriptions from time to time. It can be useful if you want to give some general info about an item eg I have linked to net a porter if there is a similar item of clothing on there or to websites of less well known clothes designers/stores to show the typical prices of new items as a guide.

So would that now not be allowed then?
