Any ebay selling tips

I'm selling my old single pushchair on ebay and feeling a bit lost. Any tips on how to make sure I get a good price? Things like when to list, how long an auction, should I use a reserve, how many pictures etc? Any information would be very gratefully received as I live quite rurally so am worried I won't get very many bidders for a collection only item.

At least a week, auction to end on a Sunday, offer a postal cost (try some couriers, e.g. Hermes), photos to highlight any major scratches, etc. It seems to help to have the original box, offer all the extras you have (Cosy Toes, change bag, etc.). Set a reserve price but start bidding at 99p. Make sure you give as much info as possible in the description including a link to the manufacturer's info for the pram.

Roughly how much are others like it going for?

Is it still under warranty? Can the shop you bought it from, or the manufacturer, offer a service on it? Depending on pram it might be worth it

Have you tried free local options first? ( Gumtree, local fb selling group etc)

Calculate postage carefully if you go down that route - you don't want to lose money there.

Lots of mixed feelings on this one, but I prefer starting on free listing days- it means of it doesn't sell you aren't out any money.

Thanks for the quick tips!

blue would you recommend trying to sell outside of ebay first? I have seen gumtree/local selling sites but not used them.

I'm really struggling to get a sense of how much to expect for it. It's newer than a lot of the brand that come up. I'm also worried that I'm only seeing the ones that are priced too expensively and not selling when I do my research.

I think we would be able to offer delivery within 50miles as an option because my dh has a personal fuel card so wouldn't cost anything except time. Although I appreciate offering postage will increase potential bidders I'm a bit wary of getting involved with courier issues/damage etc.

End on a Mon or Tues night, only ever take cash for a collected item, do not allow a buyer to arrange their own courier, take lots of photos and list any faults or flaws in detail. Wait for a free listing weekend to start the auction, start at lowest price you are willing to accept in case only one bidder.

Check completed similar items on eBay for a guide of what price you can achieve.

Well, its free to offer on gumtree etc so Id go for that option first unless you want rid in a hurry. Its very straightforward, though Id always have someone in the house with me at the collection time. (Though I may be overly anxious!) I only ever sell smaller, easily postable stuff on ebay.

For price, you could start at the higher end of what you think you could get, and also say "reasonable offers considered" (in the case of gumtree / fb selling group, ebay have a "best offer" option too. If noone buys, drop the price a little.

As for delivery, Id say "delivery available within x miles for £x" it can be a nominal amount. I once met someone halfway to pick up a buggy, as the meeting point was en route to somewhere we were already going. It worked really well.

If you deliver yourself you must also only take cash and not paypal.

Thanks again everyone! Have put an optimistic ad on gumtree to start with.
