Finish a listing early! How's best

Ok, I'm selling an item and someone asked for a BIN price which I gave. She's happy to pay that amount. I have then always added a BIN price to listing if this happens and all works out good.

The buyer has told me to finish early and sell to highest bidder...she has put £xxx amount as her highest bid but it's obviously not showing up as that as nobody has bidded against her to that amount!

Will this work if I finish the listing? Safe to do so?

You'll need to bump her bid up or she'll get it for less than the BIN amount you agreed. I think she's trying to pull a fast one tbh

Iamsanta · 14/10/2013 20:15

How would I bump her bid up?

Don't finish the listing until either she's committee to a BIN which you've added to the listing, or her bid is bumped up to the BIN price.

She could be trying to do you a favour in reducing your final sale price so your eBay fees aren't as high, but then again she could be trying to pull a fast one.

Get someone else to bid on ot

Iamsanta · 14/10/2013 20:22

Yes. That's what she said to keep my fees down! But how would that work. If I finish early how would she pay me the x amount. Sorry don't understand it.

I'll do it once I've finished my maltesers if you give the item number?

WhoNickedMyName · 14/10/2013 20:24

You'd end the auction, then send her an invoice via PayPal and adjust the amount on the invoice.

TessTackle · 14/10/2013 20:24

Not bid to win, sorry stuffing my face so typing short. Get someone who
Doesn't want it or has no interest to bid up until the agreed BIN price if that makes sense? So this woman will still win, and at the price the two of you agreed.

It sounds to me like she's trying to pull a fast one

TessTackle · 14/10/2013 20:25

Can you adjust the invoice who? I didn't think you could

WhoNickedMyName · 14/10/2013 20:28

I did recently, I sold 4 iPhones as a job lot. I had them listed separately with a BIN on each but someone wanted all 4 and I adjusted the invoice to give them discount.

Iamsanta · 14/10/2013 20:30

I can't risk it...it's large sum of money but under £500! Will email and say I'm happy to do BIN but not finish early any other way. She only has 15ish stars and seems to know way more than me about eBay!! Thank you all...huge help.

trying not to think about maltesers... Nom, nom

no don't bump the bid up. you can cancel her bid then add the correct item price as a buy it now. And make sure you send it with full insurance with courier.

TessTackle · 14/10/2013 20:47

Sorry santa I shouldn't even be eating them. Let us know how it goes

Iamsanta · 14/10/2013 20:53

Oh giddy aunt..I can't even add on BIN price. I'm sure I have done that in the past! Is it because there's bids already there? Maybe finish the listing, then relist with BIN price?

OP posts:
TessTackle · 14/10/2013 21:06

I think you're right, because there are bids. End it with reason of wrong price or similar then list with BIN only Smile

SandyDilbert · 14/10/2013 21:09

you need to cancel the bid first, and then you will be able to add a bin price

MissMooMoo · 15/10/2013 10:46

if you Pm me the link and how much to bid I'm happy to bid for you so that it bumps it up to her max price.
