Negative feedback

I bought an expensive dress which was damaged and it took the seller over a week to post (though there was a good reason, just no communication) and postage was high.

I emailed the seller and they agreed to a refund and emailed me on receipt to say they "hadn't realised it was so bad". They didn't refund my original postage so emailed to say I thought this a little unfair as I was now quite out of pocket.

No response so after 2 days I left negative feedback. A week later I receive a long email saying I am being very unfair etc etc that they just only got message.

Am I being unfair? Do I retract? How do I get postage back without saying give me my postage and I'll egg feedback removed?

Would be grateful for some advice...thanks.

Oh, you play it very cagey.
"I can't withdraw my feedback under these circumstances. I have already told you what I am unhappy about and you didn't want to do anything to address my concerns. If you think that you can do something after all to make me happier about the transaction then please let me know."

and then they might offer to refund postage & you might say (truly) that you would be willing to agree to withdraw feedback if that was going to be the revised end of the transaction.

Truth is I don't think that the offence of ebay blackmail really exists; just look at sixLostMonkey's experiences as described on here.

Besides negative feedback is no big deal. It's how hard you hit her DSRs that seller really needs to worry about.

So you don't think I was too quick to leave negative? I thought they were ignoring me to be honest.

They had less than 20 feedback and I left 1 star for each category.

Thanks for replying.

yup, you've hammered their stars, and they probably won't realise it's a problem until it's too late. I think that you may have doomed their account to selling ban in next 3 months.

It's your opinion of the transaction.
I dunno... I normally think almost all buyers are prats but your seller seems especially clueless, and some sellers are obviously eejits. It's very hard for folk to sell things casually on Ebay now. HQ expects very high standards of customer service. Your seller needs to stick to places like Gumtree.
