Bulgarian buyer on collection only item

MrsFlorrick · 31/08/2013 18:36

Just sold a maclaren pushchair on eBay.

Highest bidder is in Bulgaria and I have stated item
Is for collection only. This is also the Bulgarian bidders first won item on eBay.

I have emailed her to say I won't ship to Bulgaria.

No response. No payment either.

What do I do now? How long before I can relist? Do I need to contact eBay?

A while ago I eBayed a pram (DH posh pram when he was a baby - i married up Grin) collection only etc. I was a newbie to eBay so when a lady from Norway (!) ended up winning the pram I had to ship it to flipping Norway. I totally underestimated shipping costs, and although i wasn't out of pocket because the pram fetched about £100, it cost me about £20 in packaging. Very very annoying.

I would relist, I think.

Put in a request for transaction cancelation, reason of the buyer being in a country you don't ship to. She has a limited amount of time to agree to the cancellation otherwise eBay cancel it for you.

So annoying when this happens, I've lost listing and final value fees on several occasions because winners overseas do respond but refuse to cancel the transaction! Even thoug it states clareLy in my listings that I don't ship overseas, or that an item is pick up only so don't bid if you can't pick up within x number of days.

Bowlers. Thanks. Thanks

Can I relist immediately or do I have to wait a certain no of days before doing so?

Argh. I am fairly new to eBay. Only joined a year ago and I have only sold 20 things. I am very worried about being taken for a ride. You hear so many stories.

Don't worry MrsF, most folk are pretty good on eBay. I've used it for buying and selling casually for a few years now and only really had 1 bad transaction. Most people are genuine and just trying to make a living/a few quid. Of course, be on your guard. Read the eBay threads to get a bit more savvy, but don't be put off!

MrsFlorrick · 31/08/2013 18:58

Flibberty. Great advice. Thanks.

Sleepy. Thanks. I have only sold a few things and bought one thing. So far I have had hassle with one buyer. Buyer bid and came to collect and wanted extra things thrown in with it. She was virtually waking around my house pointing and stuff and asking if she could have it. Shock

I didn't eBay anything for months after that. Smile

I braved it again with this maclaren pushchair as it has sat unused for over a year now.

The item I bought off eBay was really fantastic and I was so pleased. So you're right. Most people are nice.

I am just not too well informed about eBay rules as such.

I would open a non paying bidder dispute after 2 days and then when closed 4 days later relist and make sure you add them to your blocked bidder list and also make sure you update your settings to prevent foreign buyers.

mrsmartin1984 · 01/09/2013 01:25

Just relist and open dispute

MrsFlorrick · 01/09/2013 16:47

Bulgarian buyer now states she wants her friend in the UK to pick it up and she wants to pay by PayPal.

This is dodgy isn't it??

OP posts:
Bowlersarm · 01/09/2013 17:05

I don't think it's dodgy. If she pays by PayPal then the money is in your account before it is collected isn't it?

lagoonhaze · 01/09/2013 17:08

No collection only is cash only. Otherwise you have no trackable method of delivery for paypal.

If they pay refund and refuse collection.

talulahbelle · 01/09/2013 17:09

NO! Cash on collection only, without proof of posting she can reclaim her money via paypal even if someone collects the pushchair.

MrsFlorrick · 01/09/2013 21:43

Thanks everyone. I am annoyed with the whole thing now.

I will email her one last time to explain and then open a dispute with eBay..

I'm pleased you asked OP. I have learnt something!

Sorry you've had the hassle. Good luck with resolving it.
