Discounted combined postage but still charged double actual postage cost?

I bought three items from one seller, each postage was listed as 3.99£. I asked for a combined invoice and was charged 7£ in total rather than the 11.97£ for the three, which I thought was ok.
But the package arrived this morning and the three items had been crammed into one thin jiffy bag, which was ripped due to the way they were shoved in, and the actual postage charge on the envelope was 3.40£.
I think that they should either have a) charged me less, a more accurate postage cost, sub 5£ anyway, or b) actually packaged the items properly so they weren't scuffed and cracked at the corner like these ones are?

DH thinks that I agreed with the price so its fine, but I'm annoyed. WWYD?

How damaged are the items? What was the total purchase price?

The outer boxes on 2 of the 3 are a bit damaged, one more than the other, which wouldn't normally bother me but they are for gifts (computer games). Total purchase price for the 3 was about 20£, so not a lot, but I haven;t got a lot, and I'm annoyed that the seller maximised their profit at the cost of sending them properly.

Yeah, totally I get you. Normally I think it's churlish to complain much about postage but they fully screwed up if items are not as described. And sale price is chunky enough that they had margins to offer you a better deal on postage. Would you still use the items as gifts or are they now unfit for purpose? I think pursuing this as a claim of goods damaged in transit (SNAD) would make more sense, buyer can send replacement goods (at their cost). I would contact them informally first to explain your dissatisfaction and see how they respond.

OP don't pussyfoot about. Sellers like this boil my piss - the vast majority of us strive to list properly, describe accurately and send at the actual rate. Message them something like the following:

Dear Seller

I am messaging to let you know that my items have arrived. I am disappointed to note that the packaging was not strong enough or sufficient for items and therefore there has been damage to two of the items. These are intended as gifts and therefore they are not acceptable to me in this condition. Additionally I can't help noticing that you charged me what I consider to be an excessive amount on the postage for this package. I have no alternative but to reflect my dissatisfaction at this when I leave feedback and detailed seller ratings.
I would like to return the damaged items to you - via a trackable service - and I would like a replacement or refund for these items and a refund for the postage cost to return them since I claim no fault at all in the fact that the items are not fit for purpose. I hope to hear back from you as soon as possible so that we can resolve this amicably otherwise I will proceed through eBay channels.

Thank you etc etc

OP - when you return the items be absolutely sure to send them 'Signed For' else seller can and probably will claim non-receipt and then you'll be left with no items and no refund.
