Buy it Now price disappearing...

This may sound like a stupid question BUT I'll ask anyway...

We listed an item for sale with a Buy it Now price and auction price, giving the option for the auction to be ended early if someone wanted to 'buy it now' somebody has placed a bid on the 99p start price, fine they can take it to auction if thats what is preferred but my question is... Why has my buy it now been cancelled out by the bid? and does this normally happen?

I thought I had seen items with bids and a buy it now, I will stand corrected it this is not the case but I am confused...

because when someone places a bid it wipes out the buy it now price. Unless you had it listed as a buy it now only, without the 99p start price - then it would only have ended when a buyer bought it for the full amount.

That is quite annoying, I always thought you could have both and if someone wanted it they could just end the auction early!!!

I hope it goes for a good price then :-/ xx

Afaik, the BIN price gets cancelled out if someone makes a bid because by bidding they are agreeing to buy it, and you are agreeing to sell it. So it wouldn't be fair if someone was winning an auction and someone came along at the end and bought it outright.

This is why I do auction or BIN but don't bother listing BIN with an auction. If you start at a low amount most people will put a bid on. If you want to make sure you get a minimum amount then it is best to list on a free listing weekend and start the auction with your minimum (or more) starting price. Sometimes low start auctions do really well and better than a BIN so hopefully you will do ok. Recently I was going to put a dress on for BIN £20 but started it at £10 and it ended up going for £50 so it can be surprising.

I hope so... We did it before and someone bought it with the bin price and kind of hoped that would happen again! Never mind, ya win some ya lose some eh? :-/

Thanks for your help though, I'd been on the help sections and felt like I was going round in circles x
