Payment issue - is the buyer timewasting?

Hope someone can offer some advice.

I had a pram on a buy it now listing and had a message from a buyer saying would I courier it, said yes and she then said she didn't get paid for another 10 days and would see if it was still for sale then. Fine,I thought - had some other interest and then it sold about 2 hours after her message.

I was surprised she had bought it and she asked me to arrange a courier and said she would pay ASAP.

It's now been 48 hrs, she is claiming she has paid and it takes 24 hrs to go through? This is rubbish isn't it?

Any advice about how to proceed? I had a bad feeling about the whole transaction to be honest!

Many thanks

no - a paypal payment is instant, it doesn't take 24 hours and you would have received an email notifying you she had paid. Did she pay to the correct email address?

I would open an unpaid case if I were you - she still has a further 4 days to pay after the case has been opened.

Thanks for the advice - I thought it was instant, will open an unpaid case.

Paypal isn't always instant. Mine is set to default to my debit card for instant payment but last week DH hadn't realised my card had expired and we hadn't changed it. Our backup payment is a credit card which goes as an echeque. I don't know but I think that takes a few days to clear, like a cheque.

LilyBossom · 11/08/2013 19:12

yes - but the seller would receive an instant email telling them a payment had been received. An echeque doesn't clear in 24 hours either which is what this buyer is claiming.

She is still messing me about, if she had paid it would say pending. She is being quite abusive now, so I've opened a case now.

How do I block her messages in the meantime? I am 26 weeks pregnant and she is making me really anxious.

You can't block them - but you can report them. Don't read them is my advice. And add her to your blocked bidder list.

Is there a chance the wrong email address was on the listing? If it is the payment could be sat unclaimed and wouldn't show as received for you but would show as paid to her on her account.

have stopped reading them! No the email address is correct, I just think she doesn't have the funds and/or doesn't quite understand how eBay works.

Thanks for the replies.

oh well then - she is clearly not a very nice person then.

Make sure you add her to your blocked bidder list so she can't bid again if/when you relist. And just ignore/don't reply is the best thing to do. Not worth upsetting yourself over I reckon.
