Any tips for selling clothes on eBay?

I'm more of a buyer than a seller but I've had a bit of clear out and have several barely worn dresses from the likes of Coast etc that I'll never fit into again. Perfect for weddings etc, so I thought I might as well try and get a few quid for them. Not sure if I've totally missed wedding season though.

Any top tips for selling. Best time of the week to list etc?

I tend to list on a Friday for 10 days so the listing covers two week-ends when people historically search eBay. Be totally honest about condition and photograph any flaws. More info is better than too little. Look at other eBay listings of items similar to yours to get an idea of the prices being asked and postage. Then sit back and enjoy watching people bid on your items! Wedding season now seems to be all year so do not think you have necessarily missed that and people might be buying for next year anyway. Hope any of this helps and good luck!

List to end on a weekend, not too early/late.

Can you get hold of a dressmaker's dummy for the photos? It's worth doing!

Thanks for that MrsLunch! I'll give the dresses a good inspection but I'm pretty sure they're all immaculate. Most have been worn once I think! All bought in the days where all my friends were getting married so a new frock was needed for each one.

No luck on the dummy unfortunately, though I can see why it would be a good idea!

Be brutally honest about any marks/flaws. Don't give anybody a reason to report you and ask for a refund.
Be realistic about how much you will get for it, unless its a particularly coveted design (its been featured in Vogue or kate Middleton has been seen in it) you probably won't get anything like what you paid. I usually start at 99p and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Pleasantly surprised to see one of the dresses I have sold for £30 today, so although I'm not expecting to make a fortune fingers crossed for a few extra £ towards my Autumn wardrobe!
