I was looking for a car part I needed on ebay and was BIN for £100.

Before I bought I phoned the seller and they took details of my chassis number and called back after half an hour and confirmed it was comaptible with my car etc etc.

Therefore I bought it and paid by PP.

Shortly afterwards I get a request to cancel and a message saying unfortunately it is out of stock. I have a feeling they dont want to sell as looking at other listings it is quite cheap.

Obviously very irritating and I want to leave negative feedback.

If I accept their cancellation can I still leave a red dot !

so refuse it then - if you accept they get their fees back. Either way you can still leave a neg.

Aah just found the same answer you gave Lily from the help boards. Thanks

Who was the seller, Hormonal? Or what was the item?

That is really harsh, making them lose £10 as well as mark down on DSRS AND giving them a Neg.

I know its harsh hence my dilemma.

They have previous form for the same thing in the past as several red dots show.

Its 40 miles away and I am desperate for this so was going to drive over. There was no discount for collection so I went with posting. I would have been furious if I had have made the trip, as several other buyers have according to the sellers feedback.

Its a car part... thats all I will say.

...so, why did you bid? It could be argued that you bid knowing they were a flakey seller who sometimes listed stock they didn't have. At the end of the day your only loss was the hope of getting item at good price.

I think you can file a non-performing seller case, this might be more appropriate (don't know how it compares to Negs, etc., though Ebay seems to prefer it, see here, so that they can really see what's going on with seller performance.)

HormonalHousewife · 08/08/2013 13:13

Well, I bid because I wanted the item Confused

That link looks like the way forward. thanks.

If they have so much form, I might report them as NPS, too. Sounds long overdue.

Thing is, if item was on at BIN I think that was the price they wanted, why wouldn't it be? They just are disorganised about their stock-taking. Flip side of punishing them is that they could be made to stop selling, and their bargains (bargains because they don't keep to highest customer service standards) disappear from Ebay altogether. So could work against your interests in future.
