Watcher has asked for a Buy It Now

I've put my first few items on eBay and one has gained a bit of interest. Two bidders, bidding against each other on the first night. It's only a buggy liner so I'm not expecting a fortune and am genuinely surprised at the interest.

Another person has messaged me tonight, asking if I'd be willing to sell it as a Buy It Now, and at what price.

I'm not sure I would want to do this, but as a newbie, I have no idea if I actually can?!? Confused

Any wise people, willing to advice me Smile

Don't do it! I have even had the sob story that they need something for grandad's birthday. They want it cheaper. Lots of people don't bid until the last minute. Just email back and say 'sorry- I am leaving it until the end to get the highest price '.

exoticfruits · 23/07/2013 22:56

If they really want it they will bid.

MrsDimples · 24/07/2013 11:00

That's what I thought too Wink

Thanks for your help.

you can cancel the bids and add a buy it now if you want - it isn't against the rules and not every buyer is setting out to rip you off and get it too cheap.

I can't see the point in changing- if I wanted people to buy it now I would have given the option. You may have no bids but you may have 20 watchers- lots of people don't do a bid until the end- I don't.

Don't do it, they're hoping for a bargain.

I hate it when people do this. The whole point of ebay is the fun of watching your auction end and hoping for a bidding war. Agree you should politely invite them to bid and you will undertake to post it as soon as possible if they win (and cough up).

I messaged the person back & politely declined.

This morning I've had another one.

This item has 15 watchers, but only the 0.99p bid met.

They have said £12.50, which seems to be the higher end of what they go for. Without doing a spreadsheet and calculating I'd say the average is £12.

Looks like there is only one other item on, in a different colour way.
It is brand new, in packaging, RRP £25, but can be bought for around £20.

I'm tempted to do the Buy It Now, as it seems a good price, but when OH & I discussed it the other night we decided we'd let them all the auctions run.

Confused

Or stick a buy it now price on of the highest price you've seen one go for online - that way if somebody does go for it you don't end up thinking wonder if we'd have got more if we let it go to the end.

No point selling it buy it now at an average price if you have lots more watchers than there are of the items for sale - makes it a sellers Market. If there was only one watcher and there were 30 for sale then it would be different and it would be worth considering an average price offer iyswim.
