Are all buyers dishonest?

I have a mixture of clothers/ furniture/ ornaments to sell.

Also got a couple of designer used handbags.. they are genuine as bought from the shop years ago, so no receipts etc to prove authenticity and want to avoid those issues.

Where else should I try other than ebay or risk ebay?

Gumtree - then you are advertising local. Ask for cash on collection.

We had to do a house clearance a year or so back, for a relative. We tried to sell things in a variety of ways - Ebay, local antique dealers, jewellery shops etc. It was very hard going. Some unexpected things went on Ebay, but we also had all kind of problems. For example, I sold a locket which a jeweller told me he wouldn't sell, but it was a nice piece and someone might give me something for it on Ebay. I described it as accurately as I could, pictures etc, and it sold for about £10 but then I got lots of grief because the chain wasn't gold and the back was tarnished... My advice would be to describe things as fully as you can, but with ornaments/furniture etc say that you are no expert, you'll answer questions etc, to try to cover yourself. Do you have any local shops that would buy the designer stuff from you? I've certainly bought some good things on Ebay, not all buyers are dishonest, but it can be such a hassle!

I think designer bags with no proof may be dodgy

furniture collection only or investigate couriers you can send 20kg most places for about £10 if not huge

ornaments and collectables some sell well some do not but make sure you mention chips cracks or restoration as most collectors want perfect pieces not something with missing finger or head glued back on

do not even try and sell any glass or china that is chipped or cracked unless perfect ones sell for over £40 even tiny chips or cracks devalue china etc by about 70%
