relisting after buyer failed to pay

I sold an expensive item on ebay last week, which went for £410 and was collection only. I realised after the auction had finished that the winning bidder had three negative feedback comments in the last 6 months about failing to pay for items. A week has gone by with various emails going back and forth and she has finally contacted me to say that she's having trouble setting up a Paypal account Hmm and thinks it's 'unfair' to make me wait, and to go ahead and relist it if I want. I would like to relist as the item had a lot of interest, is not easy to get hold of and the winning bid was only £10 more than the second highest bid.
What do I do now? Obviously I have to close the transaction - but do I report the original buyer? She has contacted me, after all, and suggested I relist - so she's wasted my time but isn't trying to be fraudulent (how on earth do you spell that??)

Put it to a dispute for non payment and you will get your fee returned. You shouldn't have to lose out because some people are too stupid. She will receive a strike for non payment.

you need to file a non paying case against them, close in 4 days to get your fvf returned. Then you can relist and make sure you add them to your blocked bidder list too.

Is there a second chance offer on it?

fergoose · 07/03/2013 18:36

you need to file a non paying case and get it closed before doing a 2nd chance offer too - otherwise you risk 2 buyers for 1 item.

Yes there is a second chance offer - so I need to file for non payment, close in 4 days and then relist?

Yes.

queenebay · 07/03/2013 19:41

No don't relst. Offer it your 2 nd chance

What are the advantages of a second chance offer? There's a possibility I may get more than the winning bid last time if I relist - I had 24 watchers and lots of emails with questions about the item - but think I made a mistake in finishing the auction on a weekday lunch time. Was going to relist on a Thurs evening for 10 days so it finishes on Sun evening. Or would it just be easier to go with the second chance thing? Aaaaargh!

just noticed she said problems with paypal you should NEVER EVER Accept paypal for collection only so don't do that when you list say cash only

if the second chance refuses you will not get listing fees back will have to pay to relist will if you just relist it will be fine, depends on rarity how likely is it that second chance buyer has bought elsewhere by now

lljkk · 08/03/2013 17:36

if the second chance refuses you will not get listing fees back

Really?! That's £41 for OP just up in smoke. Close first deal & relist for sure, then, I would.

sarahtigh · 08/03/2013 20:13

i said listing fee not final value fee

if you relist you get a listing fee credit if second chance refuses you have to relist with new fees no credit its only a small amount probably about £1 as presume she never listed it at 99p to start

but you would definitely always get the £41 back unless someone refuses to cancel transaction but in order to refuse you must actually have paid so a non payer can not refuse or leave feedback

lirael · 11/03/2013 20:05

Why shouldnt I accept Paypal for collection only?

OP posts:
sarahtigh · 11/03/2013 20:07

because you have no proof of delivery they could pay by paypal then they collect then open a not received dispute and they will always win, no signed receipt cr photo of them with goods will be accepted so JUST DO NOT DO IT EVER

lirael · 12/03/2013 21:42

Of course that makes sense. Thanks - will list as cash on collection.
