Would anyone buy expensive jewellery on Ebay?

I ask as I've set myself up as a seller of second hand luxury jewellery brands. It fits in nicely with the kids and the turnover is ok but I'm convinced that there is a potentially untapped market of people who would be interested in what I've got to sell (>50% off genuine Tiffany) but are too scared to do so.

So I'm keen to know, if buying precious items on Ebay is an outright no no or if there might be anything an Ebay seller could do to make you feel more at ease about it?

If you sell it outside of ebay you will not have their protection if something goes wrong. You need to relist it as a buy it now and get the buyer to purchase it at the agreed price. I know this will incur fees but is the safest way as far as I am aware.

no you are not allowed to sell outside of ebay and it is against their rules. Also make sure you send fully insured, recorded only covers up to £47.

Ok thanks, I think i mean express delivery which will cover it for up to £1000. So I will relist as a buy it now and get them to do it that way.

Op i would be very wary of buying expensive jewellery from ebay quite simply because there are so many fakes on there.
I love Tiffany jewellery, so kind of know what to to look for with regards to being genuine but i would still be wary as if it did turn out to be fake, then i have the hassle of getting it verified, returning and trying to get a refund.

The amount of fakes on ebay are horrendous but they always seem to have bids, i do think alot of people bid blind.

It would help if you managed to build up a good reputation as a genuine seller.
If you offered a 100% guarantee and refund policy, also if you offered viewings on said jewellery first but distance may be a problem with this one.
Lots of photos with all the makers marks/hallmarks shown.

And of course there is the risk that you will be scammed yourself by someone buying genuine and returning fakes.

I have only ever bought Tiffany from the official Tiffany site and TBH wouldn't buy from anywhere else without seeing it first.
