Won't give detail but i've won an auction for 99p. Postage was £3.50 but to be fair it would cost around that to post, its only about 5 miles away so i sent message to ask if i could pick up. They have said they have taken it off as they didn't want it going for next to nothing but its showing that i've won the auction and have payment to make.

I'm not that bothered about having the item or not, was just something i saw when i was browsing and put in a cheeky bid, i don't really want to pay £4.49 which is what it would be with the postage although i would if they wouldn't allow pick up but no more than this, then if i insist on them letting me have for 99p when they don't want to i don't really want to have to go round and pick it up now.

If i don't pay can they then report me as a non paying bidder?

because if i do pay then they aren't going to send it as they want more so i don't want to go through the hassle of getting the payment back. May just wait and see what they do.

Make a request to cancel the sale, or ask them to.

Morph2 · 25/11/2012 16:44

i've told them to cancel the sale, he says he already has but he hasn't as its still showing i need to pay

do they say on the auction they allow pick up - if not, or it wasn't agreed beforehand, you should pay.

If you don't pay they can report you as a non paying bidder and you will get a strike.

KatharineClifton · 25/11/2012 16:47

They can't just cancel it. They need to either do a request which you have to accept, or you do one they have to accept.

KatharineClifton · 25/11/2012 16:47

I would get them to do it though.

Morph2 · 25/11/2012 16:48

yes if i pay they have said they aren't going to send it because they have said they don't want to sell it for 99p so it seems pointless for me to pay and then have the hassle of claiming it back.

If they do report me as non paying bidder do i get a chance to pay. So say they reported me, if i then paid stright away then would it still be a strike?

last post was to fergoose.

Katherine, i will ask them to do it as presumably they'll need that to get their fees back although thats peanuts

Just send them the link and they will willingly follow the instructions to cancel the sale. They are probably idiots and don't know how to do it.

KatharineClifton · 25/11/2012 16:50

x-posted.

fergoose · 25/11/2012 16:58

no - if they report you as a non paying bidder and you pay before the case closes, then you won't get a strike

if they have emailed saying they won't sell you can report them to ebay as a non performing seller, then they will get a strike.

Morph2 · 25/11/2012 17:13

well they have now said they cancelled it so they are not sure what has happened and why i have won it so they are going to contact ebay. (i am guessing they tried to cancel near the end when ebay doesn't allow cancellation)

I dont really want to report them at this stage as it feels abit petty being as i'm not that bothered about having the item anyway but if i get hassle then i will.

They shouldn't put it on so low if they don't want it to go so low! That's their fault not yours. Don't feel bad about reporting.

Morph2 · 25/11/2012 18:09

well they asked me to make an offer so i've said i didn't want to pay anymore than 99p plus delivery so have now said they will be happy with that???? which is abit confusing as before they didn't want to sell for so low. I've messaged back to say that if i pay delivery i want to have it posted to me, don't want to pay delivery and petrol for picking it up

griphook · 25/11/2012 21:08

Maybe they don't want people comming to their home to collect, so would rather send it

Morph2 · 25/11/2012 21:19

update- they said to make an offer and i said i didn't want to pay anymore than 99p plus delivery so they said that was ok so i've paid that and they said they will post the item this week.

Maybe like griphook said they don't want ppl coming to collect but why not just say that when i first asked instead of saying they don't want it to go for next to nothing?

Postage is £3.50 and i can't see it costing much less than that to post, its light but its a box so not sure if it'll go as packet, oh well we'll see
