Buyers/sellers who keep their feedback private?

I have been selling a pushchair on ebay. First bidder who won it some days ago has disappeared off the face of the planet, no comms or payment and with feedback saying this has happened before a few times.
Now after relisting I have a bidder who has won who has 'private' feedback so obviously can't see. Has not communicated with me yet after winning item but wondered why people do this?
I am getting really frustrated with sellers bidding and not paying up after they have won the item as it has happened a few times in the past few weeks and I am trying to sell stuff asap as we are moving house.
Any experience of this please?

Just to add the item is for collection only so am not sending it.

well it doesn't have to be sinister.

Did you file an unpaid dispute against them first to get your fees back. You need to do this, plus give them a strike, before you can relist or do a second chance offer.

And you mustn't take paypal by the way, cash only. If they do pay by paypal refund the payment and ask them for cash.

Hi fer, thanks for the imput.
Update...payer sent a paypal payment and said they want me to ship it to France but they would arrange the courrier.
When I looked at the sellers address on paypal it is odd. The street name doesnt match the postcode (the only street with that name is west London and Post code is for east London) and it says London, then, west midlands after it. I am not sure really....They are asking for all my details so they can send their courrier....
Sounds a bit didgy to me.

I would refund the PayPal payment the n cancel the transaction through eBay selecting the option that the buyer has provided an unconfirmed address

speckledpig · 19/09/2012 16:37

Thanks spotty, I was hoping I could really.
I also noticed the name and address that she put on the end of her email gives her a diff second name. Maybe she got married or something but shouldnt she have updated it?

It all sounds dodgy to me, you put collection only and now they want it to go to France even though they're address is supposedly in the UK Confused You could always phone eBay for advice, they might cancel it all for you, I've always found them very helpful.

speckledpig · 19/09/2012 16:44

Ok I might do that spotty, thanks.
Baffles me why they want to pay a courrier to france for a pushchair for £25 too! The courrier would cost more than the PC!

the whole thing sounds dodgy, you never should allow a buyer to arrange their own courier.

I agree refund and cancel the transaction - and block them too.

speckledpig · 19/09/2012 17:09

Thanks fergoose, why shouldn't you allow them to arrange courrier though for future ref ?

I have my first negative rating - knew they would do that! :(

Reply to eat and explain. Ring eBay and explain too the might remove it.

Nervousfirsttimer · 19/09/2012 17:43

This is defo dodgy! They will say they never recieved and eBay will refund them and you'll never see the pram again!

speckledpig · 19/09/2012 17:45

Oh well, I will speak to ebay though and see what they say.

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 19/09/2012 17:46

Yep and definitely reply to the feedback so other buyers can see what happened. eBay have suddenly taken a turn and are being more strict with buyers leaving wrongful negative feedback

speckledpig · 19/09/2012 19:44

I spoke with them on chat and wasn't much help. Said they can't remove or alter it except in very specific circs.

That's really annoying, at least you can reply to it though. I would just put 'full immediate refund issued as buyer is international on collection only item' or something like that. Sorry you're having a rubbish time it can be so frustrating

speckledpig · 19/09/2012 20:16

Yes, I have replied. But I put that I had good reason to be wary and that have taken issue up with ebay....It can be frsutrating, I just think that sellers don't seem to have any backup on there when things go wrong, especially when they can't leave anything but positive feedback.

my ads say I don't accept bids from people with low feedback unless they contact me first. I want a real-life name and address and a landline phone no (that I call) as a minimum (you can buy a mobile SIM for 99p) or I will cancel their bid

You can "respond" to their feedback.

I don't know if it would go if you get the sale cancelled.
