so I now have 3 items 1 would be beach wear as far as I am concerned was described as fantastic condition. 1 is so well worn and washed it feels like it is about to fall apart and 1 was an 'excellent condition' top from Next which is so grey it needs to go in the bin

I'm struggling to work out where 1 mans excellent fantastic whatever becomes another persons barely charity shoppable rubbish fit for little more than the recycling bag!

TBH I'm also wondering whether everyone just boil washes everything? I'm also pissed off since I got something else out to wear and discovered that the inside of the sleeves are filthy.

So I'm struggling with what do I do leave accurate (in my view) feedback? Open a signig not as described? Or email the seller?

My 1 attempt at emailing the seller over postage was completely unsuccessful and I am now halfway through my negs so.....

Also how do I avoid buying such crap in the future?

(all items were looking ok in the photos except the sleeves on closer inspection were hidden from view!!)

If I had your experiences I would probably stay away from buying secondhand clothes online. I've been buying and selling from ebay for nearly a decade now and have had some buys that were disappointing and others that were gems but all carried that element of risk. As a recent seller, I think people want something for nothing and have got disillusioned with a couple of what seems like malicious buyers leaving me a glowing comment and then leaving a 2 star rating. I think if you have a problem, either mention it to them for them to resolve or don't leave feedback.

Oh yeah I probably should have rephrased that. I'm pretty sure that's it for me.

TBH I've bought quite a bit sold less because I tend to pass it on and I have never had such rubbish sent to me as in the last few months, it's just I can't identify any reason why I have been sent such stuff recently, the descriptions look the same, the feedback is good, the photos are fine. So I w wondering whether it is just my expectations, or I am being unrealistic, or I have just been lucky or what.

did you contact the sellers first - you can open not as described cases to get your money back and if you tick the box other and write in next to it refund eBay will normally refund you without the need for a return either. Plus appropriate feedback and stars can be left too.

I don't think your expectations are too high, some people will just sell any old dross then expect you not to complain.

I don't think expectations are too high, I think standards are too low .

With such high postage costs these days Ebay doesn't seem worth the hassle anymore. Ive had a few items I ain't been too impressed with (usually kids clothes) but I just bag it for the charity shop . Ebay is a "you win some, you lose some " kinda thing !

I don't like confrontation so I personally would make a remark in the feedback and chalk it upto experience but not everyone is a pushover like me !

I don't think you are being unrealistic, The majority of childrens clothes that I've had are great. A couple were a bit dodgy, a pair of shorts were really used but I let it go, a pair of jeans were just about to go through on the knee and the bottoms were worn. I contacted the seller and she refunded me the item plus postage, she was very nice so I left good feedback.

I try to sell my "best" stuff on ebay and any marks I describe and include a picture of so someone has a good idea of what they are buying. I sell inexpensive items, then if there is a problem I can refund it straight away and not be worried about hassle or costs. I also use NCT sales to sell other clothes, people can see what they are buying and there aren't any postage costs so its more of a bargain and less hassle as well.
