Hi, sure it probably tells me somewhere in one of the pages but new to ebaying and no idea where to even look!

I put up my first 4 items for sale - all auctions ended successfully on Weds night and 3 of the buyers made immediate contact and we're all arranged for collection of the items - However, 1 hasn't.. annoyingly this is the most expensive item (£69 for a quinny buzz pushchair) I was delighted of course but was wary as felt it exceeded it's value and looks like I was now right to be as not heard from the buyer.

Just checked feedback and there are 5 positive and one very negative as in AVOID SELLER, TIMEWASTER, DOESN'T TURN UP!

Anyway, sorry for waffle.. what can I do next ? How long do I have to sit and wait ?

i would contact him and ask when he would like to collect.

if you get no reply you can open a non-paying bidder dispute

HappyJoyful · 17/08/2012 09:49

Hi, many thanks for speedy reply..

I did that straight away.. so it's been since Weds that I've not heard from them - is it ok then now to do open a non-paying bidder dispute now or should I wait?

Is this easy to do?! any directions on how to do this gratefully received!

you can open a non paying case on day 4 - and then close 4 days later if no contact or payment. To be honest I don't bother emailing anymore I just open a case - if they aren't going to pay then they won't answer an email asking them either.

just as an aside you must never take paypal for collection items - cash only.

NoMoreWineForMeThen · 17/08/2012 09:56

Fergoose, just out of I interest, why should you never accept PayPal for items to be collected?

Open a non paying bidder case.
On your "Sold Items" list in "My Ebay", on the far right (your right) there is a little drop down list of actions you can take for each item. One of them says something like "Resolve a problem", which is where you can do "Report a Non-Paying bidder" (words may be a bit different). Click on that and take it from there.

Ebay will then try and contact the bidder to try and get the, to pay - sometimes it works, sometimes not. They will also put a "black mark" on that eBay user's account. In a certain number of days (can't remember how long) teh case will either be resolved or not, but you can relist the item. You can;t relist it in the interim.

I think 3 days is a reasonable amount of time. Anything after that, and I'd contact eBay.

If paying by Paypal buyers can collect your item and then claim not to receive it and claw their money back via a chargeback. You will be left with no item and no money.

eBay should warn sellers of this but they won't as they own Paypal and of course they want the fees. They promote Paypal as the safest payment method - and it clearly is not.

You cannot open a non paying bidder case until exactly 4 days after the auction ended, if you try it on day 3 the option will not be there for you. Once the case is closed, 4 days later, you can either relist or do a second chance offer, but not before the case is closed otherwise you risk 2 buyers and only 1 item.

Thank you all for the responses.. hopefully she'll get in touch but will do as suggested tomorrow if not.
Sorry, one more question - someone had emailed be about the item and wanted a buy it now price - can I contact them and offer them it at a price ? Or can I contact the other bidders ?

you can do a second chance offer to a lower bidder, or you can relist as a buy it now - but you cannot do this until the non paying bidder case has closed - otherwise you could have 2 buyers for only one item. Unfortunately with a non payer you will have to be patient and wait for the case to be closed properly before you can take any further action.
