selling M&S gift card. Potential buyer asked not to post but to send pin/serial number

Hello,. Just wanting some advice. I am selling a M&S gift card which can be used instore or online. A buyer has contacted me saying they will bid but dont want to wait for me to post. They have asked me to email them the detials of the pin number/serial number if they are winning bidder.

I am concerned that if I do this there will be no proof that they have got the item - so if they wanted they could claim the money back. However, they seem to be a reputable ebayer, long established with good feedback. What do people think?

Email the pin number and still send by recorded post?

VivaLeBeaver · 14/08/2012 19:46

Wouldn't the sent email be proof?

If you send the message with the number through eBay I should imagine you'll have little to worry about.

Or just say no. You will only post it.

I think it would be fine if they are a reputable buyer and all communication via eBay they would have no grounds for dispute. They probably just have something they want to buy online soon and don't want to wait for post.

Gift Cards are like vouchers and unless you send them Special Delivery they are not covered for loss under RM's terms of posting so they won't want to spend another £6 for you to post it to them!

but without online proof of delivery if the buyer claims not received they will get their money back - proof of a code sent via email will not be enough for paypal to let you keep the money.
