ok this won't be the first time!!

Postage discounts should they be related to the actual cost of posting the item or the discount?

Eg I bought some stuff seller agreed to combine postage sent message proudly proclaiming she had deducted 10% however the cost of postage was 4.00 they have charged me 9 pounds.

I suspected the postage would be a lot less but I'm not argumentative I also saw something about my hermes so wondered if they would use courier nd it would cost more.

So what do I do?

Leave neutral saying nice stuff postage shouldn't be over 100% more

Leave neg and the same

Leave pos and the same

Message them first and tell them I intend to do ?what

In future how do I email someone and say come on you're joking post will be 3.50 surely?

I am not argumentative or confrontational at all so I find this difficult, I also believe that sellers can choose courier or royal mail and I shouldn't really object I don't give a fig about tissue paper and prefer second class but I am getting really really really pissed off with people who take the piss but I know my feedback should be fair!!

HO hum help please

I would email and nicely ask for some money back, see what they say then decide on feedback. There isn't much you can do though, other than ask before you bid what postage would be if you win both and if you think it's too much don't bid.

I think that the person had a fixed amount they wanted and they were either going to get it from selling or postage, I have had people say they will do one thing which involved some pretty silly calculation then when I got something for what they clearly decided was too little the cost suddenly went up!!

You can report them for fee avoidance, but in future if they change the postage after you have agreed on something then request eBay cancel the transaction.

This time though just email them and see what they say, don't threaten negative feedback though because that will just annoy them :)

When I combine postage I charge the actual cost of the item plus a little bit for the packing (that's if it needs it, not if I've reused stuff). Normally postage works out cheaper when combined for example I had someone buy 2 fairly large things off me I had put £9 postage for each item (actual cost £8.80 and 20p for bubble wrap), because I could combine the parcels it cost £15 to send so she got a reduction of £3.

I probably could have got it cheaper using a courier, but I used parcel force as that's who I am familiar with and I could take it to the post office with my other parcels.

Charging £5 more and only reducing it by 10% is not IMO a suitble combine postage reduction. I would message her and ask for a postage refund.

Thanks guys

I think I will send a light message saying how nice that then postage was only x and when can I expect to see the change in my account.

Ok silly question does she need anything off me to refund to paypal or is their some kind of return money button she can use?

Just another thing if she says she is not refunding do I leave a neg or a neutral

I will report for fee avoidance too and presumably the star bit would be no stars for postage?
Thanks

It's easy to partial refund on Paypal (I have done it for damaged goods, before).

LineRunnerSpartanNaked · 02/08/2012 12:14

It is actually really damaging for a private seller to start picking up low star ratings on P&P, so she ought to want to resolve this with you to avoid the lowest (one star) rating from you.

That's why many sellers voluntarily refund the actual amount saved at the post office (either because of combining, or just over-estimating postage costs). I just refunded a buyer 80p - it's not a lot, but I'd like to think the gesture of honesty is appreciated.

stupid postage with silly amounts added for packing really annoy me

someone told me today the envelope for 3 year old girls coat cost 1.20 it was standard grey large mailing bag

I would email saying

"I notice I was charged £9 for postage item arrived and is very nice but actually only cost £4 to post, bearing in mind that goods were/werenot breakable I think that £5 is excessive for packing and would like a partial refund of £4. I would never leave low DSR or negative feedback for a seller without contacting them so issue can be solved amicably, please let me know how you intend to proceed
kind regards Southwest"

if she refuses £5 profiteering is so excessive i would leave negative

personally I add 30-40p for packing non breakables 50-70p for breakables like porcelain figurines I do sometimes sell tea sets they take a huge amount of bubble wrap so I charge £1.50 extra so unless your items were a whole china dinner service they are well out of order

if I have over estimated postage i automatically give partial refund via paypal on return from PO " hi a small refund as postage cost less than I thought kind regards S"
