First time selling on ebay and I've messed it up

I put my double buggy on last week. I used the easy template and put a BIN of £100, not realising that this would go once people starting bidding.Like a fool I didn't set a reserve price, so the bidding started at 99p and I've a got a pair of clowns bidding who apparently don't want to pay more than £5 for it. The bloody thing cost £200 new and I was planning on putting the proceeds towards a new pushchair for DS4 when he arrives in October. £3 will go nowhere towards the one I've got my eye on!! I also have 14 watchers.

I really don't know what to do! Can I relist it with a reserve price? Or should I stick it out? There's still 2 days 21 hours left, the current highest bid is £3.70 grrr!! WWYD???

Thanks :)

I would just cancel the item and relist as a buy it now, this is how to do it pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/end_early.html

I do find that most things on ebay don't do too much to the last few minutes but in your position I wouldn't take a chance.

i would be tempted to stick it out. if it's a well known brand or something that's fairly sought-after I wouldn't be surprised if it goes up a LOT in the last few hours of the auction.

It's a bit of a shite one tbh, nothing fancy : ) There are others similar that don't really seem to be selling.

do a search for them and click on completed listings and it will give you an idea of what they're going for.

you'll get more usually if you're willing to courier (not as bad as it seems)

but if others are going for say £50, then you're unlikely to get £100 on a buy-it-now

tabbycat7 · 30/07/2012 18:15

I'll do that, thanks : )

definitely consider ending item now ( you can not end item in last 12 hours)

revise listing work out courier charges ( which you must arrange not buyer)
packing involves about 20 newspapers a roll of parcel tape and 2 giant cardboard boxes ( visit local supermarket and just ask) add on £1.50 for packing courier will be about £30 as a double buggy is big

then either start bidding at say £75 but check completed listings ignore highest and lowest and any with no photos normally easy enough to spot average and start bidding £15-20 lower to encourage bids, 99p starts for big items are a bit ridiculous
