Remind me of the procedure if a seller says something is 'not as described' ?

It was a DVD - just scanned the bar code and ebay filled in the details. Buyer says it's not as described so wants to send it back. The issue is that it's a foreign film with english subs and she was expecting english dubbed.

I've just had a look at the listing and it doesn't actually specify language at all.

Am I obliged to refund? I didn't state that it was English dubbed at all (and it's a foreign film so I don't know why you'd assume that).

If I do decide to refund I should ask her to send it back recorded delivery, then refund her the full selling price and postage, as well as the return postage? Or should I ask her to cover the cost of all postage?

Sorry, I thought I knew ebay but this one has thrown me!

You may get negative feedback if you refuse, and for the sake of a few pounds I would accept it back. I would only refund the cost of the dvd though. You don't get refunded the P&P in other stores do you?

that's what I was thinking. I've sent her a message - I've checked the listing and it states that the DVD is Japanese but doesn't mention any English dub. I've offered to refund the cost of the DVD but said that she will have to pay postage.

If she leaves a neg, fine. I have 100% anyway and one comment won't put people off. I can always respond to it?

I won't accept paying all of it though (£4 DVD. £2 there, £2.70 recorded back).

I've suggested that she list it again, as she might actually make a profit.

For a £4 DVD she might decide it's not worth her while to send it back.

That;s what I'm hoping.. they often go for £7 ish, so have suggested she re-list and hopefully make a profit. The only thing that's making me Confused is that she said she needed an english dub version for her daughter who has SN and can't read. (I don't think there is an english dub version of this DVD).

Oh well.. if she's a MNer then she knows who I am now. Grin

if you do offer to pay return postage make sure you say the maximum is what it cost you to send ( not including packing fee as they send back in original packing)

i specify this now as once sent small low value item second class and they wanted me to pay to send back 1st class signed for, ( or you send collect+ and they send back royal mail at twice the price) not that i have many problems

I emailed and said that I didn't agree that it wasn't as described, and that she could return the dvd to me, but would have to cover the postage, but suggested she relist and might make a profit. She's not come back to me, so I assume that's the end of it :)
