Recently I did a thread about my non payers. I have since acquired more!
Getting really fed up.
One in particular is a problem...any advice would be very welcome.....

A German buyer won a pair of boots from me.
Turns out he's not registered on UK eBay.
He said his friend will pay, and gave me friends address to send the boots to (friend is not on eBay). He asked for my bank account details. I said I do not take payment in that way (if he'd read my listing fully, he'd know that). I said friend could pay me by Paypal. I also looked up the friend's address (it's a work one in UK) and that seems legit. Looked up friend on Facebook too..also no probs ie he seems to be a real person!
But... a week has passed and no payment.
So I sent the original buyer (after all, he is responsible, not his mate, who I've never had any contact with whatsoever) a new invoice..just to give him a nudge, really.
He (the winner) has just had the cheek to send me a 'Where is my item' email!!! Stating that his friend HAS definitely paid me. I check my Paypal account regularly. He most definitely has not.
Should I cut and paste my most recent payments (is this safe?) to show this orig buyer that his friend's name is not in there? (he hasn't asked me to do this, btw)
Otherwise how can I prove to him that his friend has not paid me?
I've also just opened it up as an unpaid item case, and that's bound to annoy this 'buyer' . But, I have to protect myself.
Damn, should've said no in first place.
I should only sell to the orig winner, and their address, shouldn't I??
Anyone else had this??
Also..if his mate pays..even if i send the boots recorded, what comeback is there for me if he claims they've gone missing?
As I'm not actually sending to the winner.
Should i just cancel the whole transaction?

The reason why I've opened up the case (apart from the fact no one's paid me) is to stop him leaving neg feedback!

no - just open a non paying case and close it 4 days later to get your fees back - really no point going round the houses

You should only send to the registered eBay address anyway - his mate paying you would not link in with the eBay item and you won't have any seller protection either

And block him from future bidding and make sure you block buyers from abroad too.

and nope - do not cut and paste any payments to him - ask him to prove he has paid - which he can't do as his friend hasn't paid you - or they have paid someone else the money by mistake.

I agree, Fergoose. But what if his mate DOES pay me before the case closes? Should i then take risk and send the boots?
I have always sent abroad, but i think i should state in all future listings, that i will only send to the winner's eBay listed address.
I would have happily sent to the winner, in Germany, but he wants them sent to friend, in UK. At least sending to Germany, would've been to the actual winner.

The winner has sent me a transaction number of the Paypal payment...but there's no payment in there. Why should I have to chase all this up. Really don't want to ring Paypal too. I've just been put on hold for 15 mins to eBay customer services.

no I wouldn't send them - I would refund them and continue with the unpaid case. You must only send to the eBay/Paypal address, anything else and you lose all seller protection.

No you don't need to chase the payment up - I would just ignore or tell them to contact paypal themself to find where the money has gone. Paypal are hardly going to discuss with you a transaction which relates to someone else - data protection and all that.

To stop foreign bidders you have to physically block them, just saying so in the auction isn't enough and doesn't stop them bidding.

lololizzy · 18/07/2012 01:50

i never wanted to block foreign bidders, have always sent abroad. Just that winner doesnt want it sent abroad...he wants it sent to my country , not his. If it was his own address, no problem as I'd be covered.

you do not want to block foreign bidders which is good I send everything abroad no more problems than with UK buyers

but in this case he has not paid, so unpaid case is the way to go as he has not paid, but just email and say that you only post to the registered address with paypal
