framed paintings with glass - how to deliver?

I've got a whole stack of paintings that are taking up room and i am thinking about putting them on eBay. But some are quite large 82 x 108 cms and have glass and an oak frame that makes them heavy. Taking them out of the frame is not really an option.

I don't mind packing them and am at home for pick up. I always use the Royal Mail but does anyone have advice on who to use as a carrier? Can I insure the parcel, bearing in mind that it contains glass? Any thoughts or recommendations?

google art couriers, and ask for quotes from a company near you, list with the option of pick up,

when I wrap art for exhibitions transport, I have unlimited bubble wrap, but I also wrap knowing it's going with a specialist couriers, there for not going to be abused.

doesn't special delivery cover glass? I think recorded or standard parcels don't - and normal couriers you would need to check the small print as to whether you are covered.

Thanks fergoose,
You're right. I've researched in the Royal Mail website and they seem the best one to go with. Also I was pleasantly surprised that it was not very expensive.

I found a couple of the courier companies said they do not accept eBay customers. Can't think why, unless it's if a courier turns up to collect a package and it's not wrapped.
