Refund request - WWYD?

I sold a bag recently. It was an unwanted gift, but new and with labels - it is a very minor designer brand, available in TKMaxx, and has the brand logo on it.

The buyer has contacted me to say its not as she expected - not the same as other bags she owns by the same brand, and the strap is too long. She wants a refund.

WWYD? I'm a bit Hmm she just doesn't like it, having bought it.

That's ridiculous. Unfair to ask for a refund just because she doesn't like it. Hmmm, you could say no and face a negative feedback. Or get her to send it back and you can resell it.

I would get it back and refund her. Make sure she knows she will be
paying the return postage.

Re-sell!

People like that are a Pita!!

Pickled, Bonkey - thanks. I am glad it's not just me BU!

Do you think one bit of negative feedback amongst otherwise 100% positive feedback is a disaster?

It's so tempting to refuse to refund because of the principle of it.

Can I pre-empt her opening a case with ebay, and open one myself to outline why I think she doesn't have a case??

Do you really want the hassle?

Cases more or less always go in the buyers favour.

Bonkey - I know, I know. It's just sooooo tempting to tell her where to shove her request Grin.

Sensible head will prevail, I'm sure

Id be tempted too Grin

Maybe you should send her a tape measure in the post and ask her to check the straps again Wink

Bonkey Grin

Can only hope the bad karma will get her.

I had a case like this recently. I sold a dress from a company who are known for small sizes. The buyer then complained it was the wrong size. i have a strong feedback rating and so wasn't fussed about getting a negative feedback. I offered a partial refund which was rejected by the buyer so I let them open a case. Ebay found in my favour and the seller left me negative feedback (which I have complained about to Ebay as the case was closed in my favour!).

It depends if you want the hassle of having it returned to relist. If you are happy to have negative feedback or possibly loose the money and the bag (which is what would happen if they found a case in the buyers favour) then you can refuse to refund.

My bil always asks for items to be sent back but I stick to my guns as I think otherwise it creates a culture on Ebay where people can "try before they buy".

Sweetheart - yay! I confess I capitulated and offered a refund before I read your post, but am inclined to be more feisty if there's a next time........

If it's important for you to try on/feel/assess the quality of the item, don't shop for those items online FFS!
