Sold two items to same buyer (baby bundles). Cost of items about a fiver combined (lots of premium high st brands, monsoon, john rocha, ted baker etc). Buyer requested combined postage which I did. She then says "I think you should check again"... as baby clothes don't weight much. I say as it's over 1kg I need to send first class signed for as no 2nd signed for available, I knew she was going to be trouble and when she quibbled the postage I said I would happily cancel the transaction but she said she wanted to proceed.

She pays after being chased (she said oh ok I will pay now, no money received so I say 3 days later it doesn't look like payment went through).

Lo and behold she is now complaining the items are stained(!). I checked all items before sending (thoroughly, no stains!) and the listing also stated very clearly they were used.

FFS!!!

I hate feckers like that.

rockinhippy · 28/06/2012 01:20

Call her bluff & tell her to send them back, but don't cover return postage - cheeky mare is trying it on Hmm

ishopthereforeiam · 28/06/2012 08:57

That's exactly what I said rockin and now she's replied saying it's not worth the postage sending back and I should check my items more thoroughly.... I have photos of each item before it was sent and there are no stains!

Send her a link to the Specsavers website Grin

rockinhippy · 28/06/2012 11:19

Grin - & a link for using sterilising tablets to get rid of imaginary stains - she was after a discount - cheapskateHmm

I used to be a really active on e-bay for years, buying and selling, up to about 2008. Then for some reason it all went sour, suddenly I had several of picky buyers like yours leaving negs for no reason (well for the reason that a used item was used...) and also actual profit in general shrunk to pennies, so I stopped and gave my surplus stuff to friends/school/charity/freecycle instead! Have had some good success with Gumtree too for bulkier items.

I still buy on e-bay on occasion but not as much as I used to.

You do have bad experiences with eBay and now I don't bother to sell stuff that will fetch under £4-£10 depending on how rich/poor I am feeling.

I have sold loads of stuff over the years and it is always gutting to encounter scammers, late or non payers or outright liars.

ishopthereforeiam · 28/06/2012 16:23

Yes anja and blue make good points! I only put 4 bundles of baby clothes up to test the water before doing the whole lot... and for all the effort involved to get £0.99 - £4/5 tops for a bundle of baby goodies (decent quality although used) from what I consider to be good shops, it's just not worth it.

I'm keeping the rest and will give to friends / charity.

Seem to have come across a few cheeky buyers lately and I just don't think I'm cut out for working with the public Hmm!

I just think baby /kids clothes and technology stuff are the worst categories on ebay for picky buyers expecting the world for 99p

I simply do not sell anything now for 99p my cheapest things are £3 most £10 plus, weirdly the more people spend the happier they seem to be with stuff

I would sell your stuff at next local NCT sale ok they take about 25-40 % but at 99p by the time you have paid ebay and paypal that is the same as ebay anyhow

I would only sell brand new with tags baby stuff on ebay now

at 1kg plus would have cost £4 to send with coolect plus and signed for

ishopthereforeiam · 28/06/2012 18:17

Thanks Sarah - usually I sell designer items all BNWT and very few complaints indeed.

I might try collect plus as royal mail cost £7-8!

Just checked the feedback she has left for others and she has made the same comments about other sellers as me, surely the chances of the items all being stained in teh same place (neck) is a bit unlikely!? Have contacted ebay to dispute...

omg, omg, what a chancer!

nancerama · 29/06/2012 17:12

I am so over eBay. Gumtree all the way for me these days.

tulipsaremyfavourite · 29/06/2012 17:23

try returntoearn instead. They pay 60p per kilo of clothes (min 10 kilo) and send you a bag to fill then come and collect it.

ishopthereforeiam · 30/06/2012 22:12

Oh thanks Tulip - will do that in future. Just sorted a load of dd's clothes before I saw that and gave to charity but next time will take a look at returntoearn too.
