Just being nosey really.
Is yours...
Mainly
Stuff you don't want any more (eg doesn't fit, impulse buy, it's old etc)
Or stuff you are given (eg unwanted gifts)
Or stuff you make to sell (crafts , jewellery, soaps that kind of thing)
Or stuff you buy to sell on eg from wholesalers/ car boot/ charity shops/ jumbles etc

Stuff I buy to sell, not second hand though. Occasionally I sell second hand stuff that dd has outgrown too. And sometimes unwanted gifts Blush

oshuk · 15/06/2012 23:29

I know someone who regularly trawls charity shops for specialist items and sells them on at a vast profit. I also know someone who sells a particular item of clothing, and even goes to the cast off bins of red cross etc to get them, and she does quite well out of it judging by the manor she lives in!

For me, it's stuff I probably would keep if I had the space but sell to make a bit of room and csh.

Tortoise · 16/06/2012 14:05

It was mainly stuff that was ours with the odd bid bought from charity shops to sell on for profit.
Now am officially off JSA and self employed starting out buying wholesale/bundles to sell on. All very new to me and a bit scary but at least it gets me off benefits and is something i can do without needing childcare in holidays!

sarahtigh · 22/06/2012 19:53

i sell collectables and ceramics so get most at auction or car boot, occasionally house clearance

colette · 23/06/2012 17:58

.

colette · 23/06/2012 18:02

Really interested as I would like to sell on e bay more, have sold clothes(particular labels I have seen in charity shops,/ have been given ) but seemed really time consuming for the really small profit so knew I was not getting it right [confuded]

Good luck tortoise

I mainly sell shoes, high end stuff that I buy as factory seconds and sell on as new with defects. Poetic Licence and Irregular Choice are best sellers at the moment. I'm picking them up wholesale for between 3 & 5 quid per pair, and generally selling for between 40 & 50 quid per pair, which is a nice tidy profit. I don't charge any postage tho' Wink

colette · 23/06/2012 21:03

I'm impressed Babylon,
I don't know enough about the higher end of fashion to dabble

ishopthereforeiam · 23/06/2012 21:06

Babylon play.com had irregular choice bags in the sale for knockdown prices if you're looking to expand your lines...

Tortoise · 23/06/2012 22:45

I don't really know where to start with wholesale. So far just bought some bundles on ebay to split and sell back on. Not much profit in that I doubt but its a start.

ishopthereforeiam · 23/06/2012 23:08

Hi tortoise I'd try charity shops, car boots, end of sales etc? May be able to pick things up cheaper than eBay.

Or for new items buy them wholesale from a shop / online and sell on. The prices are heaped but you'll need to bulk buy.

Tortoise · 23/06/2012 23:16

I've spent ages trying to research wholesale bulk buys but can't find anything that looks worth the money.
Already look in charity shops but not really any decent local ones plus I'm not up on top brands to go for!

Babylon1 · 23/06/2012 23:46

ooh thank you ishopthereforeiam I'll go and have a look :)

Always intersted in expanding lines, and so far I haven't had anything not sell, maybe had to relist a couple of times but I always use free listings weekends too. I also downloaded an app to my phone that takes several photos and puts them into a collage for ebay listings, meaning you don't have to pay 12p per extra photo - all those 12ps add up and i do find the fees a bit OTT sometimes.

Colette it's not just high end fashion you need to know about - basically anything you think may sell, search it out on ebay first, and if theres more than one listing for it, then you're pretty much onto a winner for selling it.

Keep an eye on your seller dashboard and your star ratings, and that's all there is to it really.

I had a whole thread before about ebay selling tips; I'll perhaps do another one at some point soon - there's tips for buying stuff too!

Tortoise · 24/06/2012 10:27

I thought business sellers couldn't make use of free listing weekends?

colette · 24/06/2012 11:23

Thanks Babylon I will search out your thread
I need to bring in more money over Summer hols as sessional work that I do stops when schools do.

sarahtigh · 24/06/2012 16:02

business sellers never get free listings it is 10p to list at 99p ( 5p for books) and 15p upto 4.99 etc

but if you sell enough yuo can get 10-20% discount on final fees

Tortoise · 24/06/2012 17:07

That's what i thought. Registering as a business tonight once my own items end. Then it's onto listing the used bundles i bought. See how they go. Not expecting to do very well out of them but hope to make more than i spent lol.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/06/2012 17:12

All Saints seem to sell well, as does boden.

I sell on what I have worn and got bored of.

Babylon1 · 24/06/2012 22:10

Tortoise I'm not a business seller yet

I only really started selling stuff in January this year, and i've just found I get on ok doing it and have dabbled a bit with other stuff as well as my own crap to see what shifts.

I've only recently started picking stuff up wholesale, and i'm lucky as i have a spare room i can use to stash everything in.

I'm planning on registering as a business seller on 1st July as I'm only allowed 190 listings per month and i'm regularly hitting that now. :)

Tortoise · 24/06/2012 22:33

Ah I see. Technically you are already buying to sell which is not really allowed Smile.

I've registered now Smile. Was really easy to do.

colette · 27/06/2012 17:23

Babylon1- just been looking for your your e bay tips thread. Was it in chat and has been deleted .
thanks

dizzyday07 · 28/06/2012 10:22

I just sell stuff of ours that we don't want/need/fit etc any more - plus a few unwanted gifts!

Babylon1 · 28/06/2012 13:09

Hi tortoise, I've registered now too, very easy Grin

Not sure about tips thread collette? Confused

Viviennemary · 28/06/2012 13:15

Somebody I knew (only vaguely) was making a fortune out of selling vintage handbags on ebay.

Tortoise · 29/06/2012 21:08

Well done babylon Smile. I've only listed 6 items, need to knuckle down next week and get listing.
