I have always just passed things onto friends or charity shops but actually I could do with the money .

But I don't know where to start , I have mostly got toys and books but also some clothes .

Hints would be greatly appreciated .

Tia

Put the brand of the item for sale in the description line. Do you have a PayPal account? always preferred method of payment. Wait until EBay offer free insertions. They do this every 3-4 weeks and usually on bank holidays too. This means they won't charge you for listing the item even if the item does not sell. You will get charged the standard commission price if it does sell. Provide at least one photo of the item for sale. List item for 7 days to give your item chance to be seen. Sometimes you can add more than one photo for no extra cost. Buyers love photos and will be suspicious of any items without pics. Always be careful to start bidding as low as possible but not much lower than you need to sell the item for that way you don't need to se t a reserve price and if the item sells then all is well and you have not lost anything. Start bid at lowest price that you can possibly bear to sell your item for... you can try to make a little more by selecting higher postage cost. Some buyers may be put off by high cost of postage though. Use the postage calculator on site. Offer collect in person as well as post, especially useful if item is heavy or bulky. Hope that is some help...

Thank you so much , I really have no idea so that is a big help . I will look out for the free listings . Do I just keep checking the site ?

Yes, you'll need to just keep checking the site to find when the next free listing days are coming up (I think they're without exception on a weekend).
Put up the best photo/s you can of what you're selling. Get the size/s in the heading as well as the brand name, and, of course, 'unworn' or 'little worn' or whatever you think is most important that the punters should know!
Some people think that putting part of the heading in capitals is 'shouting' at people, but that's for you to decide; plenty of people do, and, after all, capitals are meant to draw attention. Hope this helps.

Thank you , I have bags of possible stuff , so my next job is to go through it all and decide what is good enough to sell and get rid of the rest .

At least if I can get the pics done and have an idea of postage and what I would like to get for each thing I will be ready .

If I say that really quickly it sounds easy Grin

Tip op: use the royal mail postage calculator rather than the bay one as the ebay one hasn't been updated and I've been caught out recently.
