Collection - how much do you help re. lifting and carrying

I've sold a broken household appliance. The buyer (cash on collection) is due to arrive soon. In fact he's late but has phoned so, ok.

But he keeps saying "I will be there". I made it clear the appliance needs two people to lift it. He's likely turning up alone! I am 5ft nothing and lack the muscle power to assist. There is a slim chance DH will be back from work in time, but DH also not keen to lift it due to health issues.

What do you do in these circumstances? Help or not? I want the thing out of my house and want the cash, but...

Phew! Glad that's done! DH not back in time, I did have to help a bit. But...£65 for a broken appliance, happy with that!

WWYD in these circs? For future reference.

I did the same as you.

said over and over 'there no one here to help you will need someone with you'

(it was a broken american fridge freezer) and the guy turned up alone !

I ended up helping him but i figured I was getting a good deal £40 in my hand whereas I would have had to pay the council £10 to get rid Grin

Ok, not just me then!

I would have had to pay £10 to John Lewis to take our washing machine away, but the repair man (who failed to live up to his name) tipped me off about flogging it on eBay. Glad I took a punt!
