Dress sold for £40.50 postage to Austria?

Hello I'm looking for some advice

I put a dress on eBay and it's gone for way more then expected but they still haven't paid. I went to send them a invoice and noticed they live in Austria. I normally don't bat a eyelid at sending things abroad but just wondering with this going for quite a lot. Iirc my listings don't actually say I post abroad anyway. Should I be wary or is there anything I should do. In the uk for something that went for that much id send recorded to be sure it had arrived but I obviously can't do that there. Could I potentially send it, they claim they haven't received it and end up £40+ down and minus a dress.

If my listing doesn't actually say I offer to send outside the uk do I have to send it to them? Could I apologise say I don't send abroad and then offer a second chance offer to the person who bid less?

Thanks in advance

They probably haven't paid because you haven't sent them an invoice with postage costs included. Just make sure you work the cost of sending it International Signed For. It's a few pounds more than regular Airmail but that way you get a signiture on delivery and it's normally quicker too.

It's a pain when people buy from abroad but i generally put up with it to keep our 100% rating.

I've sent a few things abroad and had no problem, although admittedly the buyer has always asked me in advance if I would give a postage quote.

I dunno about a few pounds more than regular mail, at least my definition of "a few" =

I didn't know they were from abroad I tend to do most the eBaying from the app on my phone. In the past people have sent a message asking if I will send there then I obviously know to go on and send them a invoice.

I shall have a look on the royal mail website for prices. I've seen on threads here that they are only tracked up until leaving the uk. Does that mean they don't get signed for over there? If so would I be covered if they claim not to receive it

If you don't want bidders from abroad you will need to block foreign buyers. If they claim not to receive you would have to refund them and then claim for lost items from Royal Mail.

it is precisely £5.15 extra for international signed for covers you upto £47, it is signed for on receipt but you can not track it like it will say arrived in vienna and then delivered but you can't track it via post office in vienna etc, you need airsure for that

if your settings allowed them to bid, you have to send it to them.

I sent a £200 leather jacket to France a few weeks back, cost £60 postage but was tracked from door to door and signed for. Global priority with parcel force i think it was.
