not having much luck. two issues:

  1. After two weeks, a dress didn't arrive. no communication from seller, then get an email offering a refund. four days have passed, still no money. Do I raise it with ebay?
  1. bought another dress, listed as unbranded. it is branded and if I was aware of the brand, I would not have bought it. no communication from seller. I should get my money back. if i return the dress to the seller, do I have to pay the postage? i don't see why I should be out of pocket when they are in the wrong?

is there a time limit to either of these? and if outside of this time limit, what will ebay do?

much appreciated!

Sorry to hear you're having problems :(

  1. I'd email the seller and let her know you'll raise a dispute with ebay if she doesn't refund you today. And ask her what happened to the dress too!
  1. If the seller didn't say what brand the dress was, and you didn't ask, then I don't think you have a leg to stand on there. Sorry. If you return to seller I think you woudl have to pay postage.

  1. Yes you should open a case in the Ebay Resolution Centre (you'll find this under the Customer Support menu) and request a refund.
You can escalate the case for Ebay to make a decision if no refund is forthcoming and you will get your money back. I am assuming you have checked it's not being held at you local post depot - two buyers of mine recently found items this way because cards had not been left by posties.
  1. As above you need to open an "item not as described" case and when asked what resolution you'd like choose "return for a refund".
You would need to return it with some form of proof of delivery though. Normally Recorded Delivery is acceptable for Ebay. Special Delivery costs a lot more but is guaranteed. A good seller will appreciate their error and will refund your return postage, however they don't have to do this and you are dependent upon their goodwill.

The time limit for opening cases is 45 days from date of purchase - you sound as if you are well within this for both but my advice would be not to delay on either case.

Sorry to hear you have been disappointed with your experience so far - it's a shame when this happens to new buyers as most Ebay sellers are honest and reliable

Pied - why would I ask the brand of the dress when they deliberately said it was unbranded Hmm. I've paid £60 for a f*king supermarket dress! Deceitful and therefore not as described. I had no reason to ask for the brand as it was listed as unbranded.

What's the likelihood of getting my money back?

Hi, open up cases on ebay. You will get your money back. Its quite a simple process. You can return anything you dont like, you have the same rights just as though you were shopping onthe high street. Also if you havent received an item, open the case. You'll definately receive your money. You can also open up cases with Paypal if you paid through them. I am a seller and a buyer on ebay, visit the resolution centre.

First one - open an Ebay dispute.

Second one - erm, I don't really understand the problem tbh. I mean, if you like the dress well enough to spend £60 thinking it was unbranded, then what does the actual brand matter?

80sbabe · 17/05/2012 10:14

The likelihood of getting your money back in both cases is 100% if you open the cases.

If the sellers don't refund you then Ebay will and then they will claim it back through Paypal.
You have nothing to worry about unless you leave it too long to open a case.

Ebay cannot enforce the refund of your return postage for the dress and you are at the mercy of the seller there.
I would return it as cheaply as possible via a signed for method while ensuring that the price I'd paid for it was insured.
You may find that using a courier service will work out cheaper than Royal Mail for your return.

Also don't forget that you will have the opportunity to leave feedback and DSR ratings for these sellers - bear in mind how well they treat you now for when you reach that point.

I'd be pissed off at the £60 supermarket dress too....but what on earth possessed you to buy something un branded for so much money????

Open up a case and say item not as described. I hate dishonest sellers like this but you were a bit gullible. I never, ever spend more than about £15 on eBay clothes. If I want to spend £60, I go to a proper shop!

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 17/05/2012 12:54

If you were happy with it when you thought it was no brand at all, why on earth aren't you happy now? You liked the dress, you paid what you were happy to pay for a dress you liked at the time - it shouldn't make any bloody difference whether it's F+F or Farhi to be honest. Hmm

Merci ladies. Lessons have been learned. I will let you know how I get on in due course.
