I only bought these boots because they were my size (7) and therefore was quite happy to fork out for the postage (this was an accurate p&p cost). So they've just arrived, and they are in fact 39 which is not a 7, its a 6.

I've emailed the seller to ask what they are going to do - but I'm not entirely sure what I expect of them. I now have a pair of boots that are useless to me. If I send them back it will cost me £7.50. Should I expect them to pay for the return postage and refund my 99p? Or should I just leave it and give them negative, based on the fact that they are unlikely to stump up for the return postage after I've returned them. Bah!

I'd want all my money back, it was their mistake after all. If they won't refund you completely then take it up with e bay.

if you open a not as described case with eBay tick the box marked other where you write the resolution you want. Then once escalated eBay should give you a no fault refund without the expense of a return.

£7.50 postage for a pair of boots btw! wow, have prices really gone up that much?

Otherwise you will have to return at your expense and get refund of £8.49. i would prob leave a neg unless seller refunded all expenses in full.

I'd send them back with a cheaper courier and ask for a full refund. If they weigh less than 1kg could you not use myhermes? I think tracking is an extra 80p?

dizzyday07 · 14/05/2012 20:06

I've had the same in the past before as they were french the shoes I bought and listed incorrectly!

lynniep · 15/05/2012 09:13

I cant send them back cheaper - they weigh 1.4kg so its always going to cost that much. I think I'll give them a chance to respond to see what they say. I would rather just leave negative feedback and then try to resell the boots to make back some of the money. will update

You can send up to 2kg via Collect+ for £3.99

fergoose · 15/05/2012 09:26

If you tick the box other and write refund you won't have the expense of returning them at all.

keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 15/05/2012 09:34

in the past when I've sold things and have made a genuine mistake in the listing without realising, and the seller has returned them, I would refund the cost of the item, the postage they paid for me to send the item out and the return postage if it was my mistake.

So if I was the seller of your boots, I'd refund your 99p & £7.50 and the £7.50 it would cost you to send them back to me, after all it's my mistake.

Is that not the done thing - do I not have to refund the buyers return postage?

If I were you, OP I would contact the seller via ebay explaining they are no use to you, will they refund all of the costs, or if not, launch an item not as described dispute.
Or you could resell them on ebay if you think you'll get your 99p back with someone willing to pay the £7.50 postage.

thanks guys. I am waiting for a response for the seller - will give them a couple of days - I would expect them to do what you've said keepthechange - but we shall see.

Otherwise I'll do what fergoose said I think (although that means I still have a pair of useless boots I paid £7.50 postage for - I'm assuming thats what you meant fergoose - or would I get my postage costs refunded as well?)

thanks for the Collect+ tip - thats good to know.

if you do as I say you get to keep the boots and get full refund of £8.49 - then you can do with the boots what you wish.
