Seller asking for more postage

I bought a small item through ebay, which didn't arrive, as the seller copied my address down incorrectly. They're now asking for more money for postage. Pasrt of me wants to just say no as it's a bit flipping cheeky seeing as it was their mistake, but I do want the item and it was fairly cheap anyway.

If I do agree to pay extra, is there anyway I can link it to the sale through ebay? I don't want to end up in a position where I've paid extra and I can't get it all back if the seller does the same again.

I wouldn't pay it, it was their mistake, so why should you be out the extra expense? Maybe I'm too suspicious, but could they be trying it on as they didn't get as much as they wanted for the item?

I know, DizzyCow63. Part of me wants to tell them to sing for it, but I still won't have the item I wanted. If, in total, it's within what I would be happy to pay for it, then I will consider it, otherwise I'm just spiting myself to make a point. :(

say no, their mistake, its not your fault. and Ebay would find in your favour if it went to dispute.

Thank you for your replies, however just saying no won't get me the item I've paid for, it will just get me my money back. If they ask for a lot more, I will telling them it no uncertain terms, but I would have been happy to pay more for it in the 1st place if someone else had bid. If it's still within what I would've paid for it I'd rather pay the extra and get the item sent. I just want to make sure that if they are pulling a fast one I'm covered to get it all refunded. Confused

If they wrote the wrong address on the parcel, and added a return address on it, I bet it's been returned by the PO (as they could'nt deliver) and they don't want to have to repay the postage to send to the correct address! So in effect getting you to pay for their mistake.

I assume to be fully covered for paying the extra, they might have to refund you the original payment, issue a new invoice with the additional on it and then you repay - but don't know if this is even possible

I'm flexible with these things and if I get the auction for a steal and more postage would mean the seller is out of pocket, I wouldn't mind paying more. I see it in terms of pounds and pence and what I'd spend on a coffee anyhow. Obviously if it was a massive mark up, I'd walk away, I wouldn't want stuff sending on bad terms anyway.
