Selling outside of ebay or not?

I currently have 4 identical items to sell on ebay. I have listed 2 of them, one on 5 days and one on 10 days, and I planned to list the others once those 2 auctions have closed (if they sell that is!)

So I've been approached by a buyer who has offered me a a BIN price for 2 of them. I'm quite happy with the price he's offered and I'm just wondering what's the best way of selling to him.

Should I list a lot of 2 at the price he has offered and then hope he buys it before someone else, or should I do it outside of ebay and just send him an invoice from Paypal?

Not paying the ebay fees would be great but I'm not sure if I'm putting myself at risk of losing my money. I usually list everything at 99p and hope for the best, but I'm aware that if i do BIN for the price then I'll end paying a lot more fees than usual. I've only ever sold auction style so not sure what to look out for.

No don't sell out of eBay - you can risk your account if you do that as it is against the rules.

So if Total price is £30 including postage can I say £15 BIN and £15 postage?

Depends what it is - steep postage can be fee avoidance but it depends what the item is.

I sold something last week outside of e-bay after some one made me an offer but it was cash on collection. It depends if you can risk losing £30, if it was me i would risk it as it will save paying e-bay fees. But its up to you.

Postage will be about £10 ish actually so I haven't loaded it by too much. The buyer has offered £30 inc postage btw.
Onviousldoom trying to avoid feed, I don't usually sell anything for more than a fiver so I'm a bit Shock at how much the fees will be.

ebay is 10% of sold price

paypal in uk is 3.4% of total including postage plus 20p

if postage will cost 10 put BIN at £17.50 with £12.50 postage

If you have two that you haven't yet listed, then of course you can sell them by any method you want, without breaking ebay's rules!! And it can't be fee avoidance on a private, non-ebay sale!!!!! You can charge him whatever the hell you like as long as he's happy to pay.

And just tell him your email address to send the payment too, he'll know what to do. You don't need to send an invoice.

it isn't allowed and it does break rules - more info here

Fergoose, how can it break rules if these are two that she hasn't yet listed? The two that she HAS listed on ebay will still sell within their rules - If she lists them on Gumtree and the guy then pays by Paypal, would that have anything to do with ebay?

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 01/05/2012 08:54

For example, I have a DVd listed on ebay right now. If I sell another dvd to my next door neighbour and she pays me cash, that's sod all to do with ebay.

pantaloons · 01/05/2012 08:59

I'd ask them to email you privately then explain you have two more and give him your price and paypal email address. This entirely avoids ebay as Flouncy says as they have never been on the site.

fergoose · 01/05/2012 09:35

but they wouldn't have known you had another item for sale if they hadn't seen the first listing - that is the whole point

Selling to a neighbour who hasn't seen the ebay listing is totally different
