And they are mint and have nice photos and a fair few watchers, but really not many bids. Arrgghhhhh. They finish tonight. I'm rubbish at this, I really am.

And I know that my post is pointless. Sorry. Frustrated.

Can we have a link? I might be interested in buying if they're the right size for my dds.

I feel your pain though. I've recently tried to sell Frugi and White Company kids clothes for peanuts, and still no takers

BikeRunSki · 23/04/2012 08:03

There is often a flurry of bids in the last few minutes if you have a lot of watchers.

Monday night is not a brilliant time for auctions to end - Sunday much better.

Be prepared that they probably won't sell for as much as you'd like. No more than half new price (accounting for postage) if they are mint and seasonal.

Have you got lots of photos showing details? Measurements?

fergoose · 23/04/2012 08:54

I often find most people bid in the last 20 seconds, or even 5 seconds, so don't lose heart.

And I disagree I think Monday and Tuesday nights are better than Sunday nights for attracting bidders. More people are at home on weeknights to bid I reckon.

civilfawlty · 23/04/2012 09:09

Last 5 seconds! oh my giddy aunt. i cant take the anxiety.

I've just tried to add more photos and measurements, but cant get into it. Duly noted for next time - thank you.

Here is the link (I hope) for you Eggy: Civil's Ebay

fergoose · 23/04/2012 09:16

you won't be able to add anything as there are less than 12 hours to run on your auctions.

civilfawlty · 23/04/2012 09:20

ah. oh well. next time. advice appreciated.

I try to list other items same size and season all together- people buying dresses are likely to need other items too if their children have grown... so dresses and tshirt/shorts combos, trousers, summer cardis, swimwear etc. Just make sure each week's listing is all same size- I have had bidders buy the whole lot, because they're after a complete wardrobe. Smile

I agree Monday not a good time to end btw.

nickseasterchick · 23/04/2012 09:46

I bid on a handbag yesterday which similar ones had previously solf for almost £30,I got it for £6.00 the next one that was absolutely identical but had a slight mark went for under £2 - i dont think ebay is shifting at the moment .....could you withdraw from the sale? or ask someone to 'bid you up'?

nickseasterchick · 23/04/2012 09:47

Just looked at your link - your dd has someone beautiful clothes Envy

5madthings · 23/04/2012 09:59

oh they are beautiful but too big for my dd :(

CuttedUpPear · 23/04/2012 10:02

Can I just say that your photos are quite dark? The dresses are obviously gorgeous but if you could get higher quality pics next time, it might make a difference.
Good luck.

civilfawlty · 23/04/2012 10:16

Thank you SO much for the advice. I'm completely new to all this. I will borrow a better camera next time.

Wonder what the variables are which make ebay shift/ go slow...?

And - re her clothes - these are special items which were gifts etc. I make a lot of her other stuff/ buy at charity shops. Just in case anyone thinks she is a little madam...

fergoose · 23/04/2012 10:42

Please do not ask someone to bid you up! this is shill bidding, is not allowed, and you risk your eBay account by doing that!

PoohBearsHole · 23/04/2012 10:48

I have bid on something because I think dd would love it and only loves dresses Hmm but agree with Fergoose above. Monday not a great time to do bidding but this does change with regards to time of the month, however bear in mind that ebay ain't shifting much at the moment. I sold 3 Little White Company dresses all lovely for 99p (with matching tights!). My own stupid fault for not putting in a higher starting bid, however whenever I have done this with items they haven't sold either!

nickseasterchick · 23/04/2012 10:51

Fergoose ....I had no idea Blush ....when I sell stuff my friend always asks 'if i need her to bid me up?' ...I dont as I thought it takes the thrill out but then i never sell anything worth as much as those dresses ........

Heswall · 23/04/2012 10:55

Me too can we all put links on ?

membrillo · 23/04/2012 11:20

Heswall- best place to link is the ebay £300 thread... everyone posts their stuff on there, loas of tips and pointer too.

Heswall · 23/04/2012 11:28

Thanks, irony is I have the next size up to the OP Grin

Pagwatch · 23/04/2012 13:46

And Ilovegorgeous is all one word.

Btw, if a dress isn't a brand, don't do 'in the style of...' it is bloody annoying and you may well get reported.

Southwest · 23/04/2012 13:59

I've just been bidding on a couple of things and I was outbid on nearly all of them
Drove me crazy because of course everyone had inflated the Postwge so I wanted to combine to keep the cost down

Southwest · 23/04/2012 14:02

Actually just looked at your stuff and you got some pretty good prices going there......

Can I pick ops brain looks like you might know the answer to my q in style. Where can I buy Maggie and Zoe or Jillians closet?

I'm desperate for a loNdon dress and can't find one anywhere

Thanks

membrillo · 23/04/2012 19:38

SW- in UK I have only seen them in TKMaxx

thisisyesterday · 23/04/2012 19:46

given that someone has just had a thread linking to youtube deleted for being advertising, i'm surprised this hasn't gone as well Hmm

civilfawlty · 23/04/2012 20:59

Thanks for all the helpful comments. In the end, all but one dress sold for pretty good prices. Obviously I now completely addicted and anything which isn't nailed down at home is going on 'the bay'.

And - I don't know either of those brands, sorry!
