Children ordering things by mistake

I have just realised that my son ordered an X-Box 360 controller yesterday for £95 (wtf, does it do the housework!!). I obviously don't want it and have emailed the seller to say so. Have any of you had this situation before? Is the seller likely to be nice about it or am I stuck with a very expensive controller??!!

I think you are stuffed, but if you grovel to pay the seller some compensation they might let you out.
I dread the day one of DC do this.

You should be able return it. Something about distance selling iirc.

KingofHighVis · 06/04/2012 17:47

But that doesn't apply to eBay. Sorry.

you can ask the seller to cancel the transaction and then they will get their fees back and can relist.

Otherwise they will prob open a non paying bidder against you and you will get a strike against your account.

And make sure you leave yourself logged out from now on!

change your paypal password as well

email seller and grovel he may well agree to cancel, you might offer their listing fees as they are not returnable. otherwise dont pay you will get a strike but just 1 makes no difference but if have 2 some sellers will block you, you can't block people with just 1 strike,

if it was a business you can return in 7 days you will be out of pocket for postage but that can be deducted from DC pocket money possibly more effective than changing password
